2011 NBA All-Stars: Six Reserve Snubs
The All-Star game will be taken place in Los Angeles, California this year.
Today the reserves for both the Western and Eastern Squads were announced:
Western
Reserves
Russell Westbrook
Deron Williams
Pau Gasol
Blake Griffin
Manu Ginobili
Dirk Nowitzki
Tim Duncan
Eastern
Reserves
Rajon Rondo
Chris Bosh
Kevin Garnett
Al Horford
Joe Johnson
Paul Pierce
Ray Allen
Most players who made the squads are deserving, but there were some obvious snubs from both sides, so let's take a look at 6 of them:
Zach Randolph
1 of 7
Though the 6'9" Zach Randolph is not loved by the league, especially after his drug investigation, there is no denying that his production is there.
Randolph is one of the most offensively gifted players at the power forward position.
Randolph is averaging 20 points and 13.2 rebounds per game.
He is one of the main reasons the Grizzlies are still afloat.
Carlos Boozer
2 of 7
Carlos Boozer expected to be an All-Star, and even said he hoped he was named to the team.
Even though Boozer missed some time this season, he averaged 19.8 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
Most importantly he and Derrick Rose are leading the charge for the surprising Bulls, who are quickly becoming an elite team and factor in the East.
Kevin Martin
3 of 7
Kevin Martin is one of the best shooting guards in the game.
At 6'7", he is the Rockets most consistent offensive threat and averages 23.3 points per game.
Martin is a great three-point shooter averaging 40 percent from the field, and leads the league in free throws made.
He is underrated and constantly keeps the Rockets in games with his clutch outside shooting.
LaMarcus Aldridge
4 of 7
All Trailblazer fans wondered when they will see power forward LaMarcus Aldridge's full potential and game.
Well this season, Aldridge has exceeded all expectations and is an offensive threat for a team that has lacked an inside presence for years.
Aldridge averages 21.3 points and 9 rebounds per game.
Monta Ellis
5 of 7
Monta Ellis is an elite scorer, and now he can pass as well, as we have seen his huge improvement over the past two seasons.
Ellis averages 25.1 points per game and 5.6 assists per game.
He gets it done on the defensive side of the ball as well with 2.30 steals per game.
Ellis is one of the best young combo guards in the NBA, and he clearly deserved to be in the All-Star Game.
Kevin Love
6 of 7
How do you average 21.4 points and 15.5 rebounds per game and not make the All-Star Team?
Those numbers are legitimate MVP numbers, and it's a tribute to the type of year power forward Kevin Love has had.
Love is a dominant rebounder and has possibly challenged Dwight Howard of being the NBA's best rebounder.
Love has put up amazing numbers and has a double-double streak of 34 games.
Honorable Mentions
7 of 7
Steve Nash
He is still averaging 16 points and 11 assists per game and has still shown he is one of NBA's elite point guards.
Andrew Bogut
Bogut was coming off a serious injury but has responded with 13 points and 12 rebounds per game.
David West
West combines with CP3, forming one of the best pick and roll tandems. West averages 19 points and seven rebounds per game.
Tony Parker
Parker averages 17.3 points and 6.8 assists per game and is leading the NBA's best team.
Lamar Odom
Odom filled in admirably when Andrew Bynum went down with injury. Odom's averaging 15.4 points and 10 rebounds.
