NBA Trade Rumors: 10 Teams That May Take a Chance on Michael Redd
A few years ago, Milwaukee Bucks guard Michael Redd was one of the NBA's better players and definitely one of the most dangerous shooters around.
The 2004 All-Star and member of the 2008 Olympic Team holds the NBA record for most three-pointers made in a quarter with eight, and once scored a Bucks' franchise-record 57 points.
However, major injuries have transformed Redd from a star into a player who some fans have forgotten was still in the league.
He tore his ACL and MCL in his left knee in both 2009 and 2010, forcing him to miss a ton of games over the past few seasons.
Redd will become a free agent this summer and because of his injury history, he won't command a very big contract. Here's a look at 10 teams that just might offer the fallen star a deal.
Golden State Warriors
1 of 10
The Warriors are ranked in the league's top 10 in scoring, so they're not exactly in desperate need of another scorer.
But Redd could emerge as a nice backup to perennial All-Star snub Monta Ellis.
Dallas Mavericks
2 of 10
Back in 2002, Redd signed an off sheet with the Mavericks before it was matched by the Bucks.
Nine years later, Dallas just might be interested yet again for a much cheaper price.
Redd could eventually replace DeShawn Stevenson as the team's starting shooting guard, with super-sub Jason Terry playing his usual sixth man role.
Toronto Raptors
3 of 10
Why would the Raptors take a chance on Redd?
Only because they need help in any way, shape or form.
Cleveland Cavaliers
4 of 10
Redd was courted heavily by the Cavaliers when he was a free agent in 2005.
The Columbus native and former Ohio State star ultimately turned down the chance to play with LeBron James in his home state and re-signed with Milwaukee.
The Cavs probably wouldn't mind adding Redd to the roster this summer. Sadly, he could actually lead the team in scoring.
New Jersey Nets
5 of 10
New Jersey has failed in their attempt to acquire an All-Star. No LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Amar'e Stoudemire, or more recently Carmelo Anthony.
But with Redd in the mix, at least the Nets would have a former All-Star.
Indiana Pacers
6 of 10
If Indiana doesn't re-sign Mike Dunleavy this offseason, they just might take a look at Redd.
Redd would be just another strong outside shooter for the trigger-happy Pacers.
Washington Wizards
7 of 10
Redd could work out in D.C. as a veteran mentor for the young, rebuilding Wizards.
He would come in and backup Most Improved Player candidate Nick Young.
Miami Heat
8 of 10
In Miami, Redd could come in and fill the role that Mike Miller was supposed to this season, which is an outside shooter off the bench.
A healthy Redd could prove to be the missing piece in the Heat's championship puzzle in 2012.
Boston Celtics
9 of 10
The Celtics, already one of the league's deepest teams, could use a player like Redd to make them even scarier.
Redd's addition could possibly help Boston rest the aging Ray Allen during the regular season, making him fresh for the playoffs.
Chicago Bulls
10 of 10
Michael Redd and the Chicago Bulls would be the perfect marriage.
Chicago needs a shooting guard badly and Redd is, well, a shooting guard.
If healthy, he would definitely be a major upgrade over the Keith Bogans/Ronnie Brewer two-guard duo.
