Arrogant LeBron James To Post Up More for Miami Heat

Dale MacheteJan 21, 2011

LeBron James is still one of the most offensively gifted and versatile players in the NBA today and of all time.

However, he has no business trying to bear the burden of the Heat's decimated power forward position. James told ESPN.com that he was prepared to be the team's new post-up threat if necessary.

"I spent a lot of time on it this offseason," James said. "Once I made the decision to come here and realized we had a low-post threat, I kind of backed off a little bit. With [Bosh], he's been our outlet. With him being out, I can go back to it. I just have to dust it off a little bit. It's no problem."

Is James serious?

Did he really say he's just going to have "to dust it off a little bit" and he will have a formidable post-up game?

Unfortunately for the Miami Heat, it is this type of arrogance that has the team with 13 losses. The Heat is the team that was expected to win nearly every game this season—the only team to also showcase its best players in an event months before the season started.

Yes, the Miami Heat's record is amazing and should not be taken for granted; yet it is cumbersome to hear James talk about being good at power forward in such a pretentious manner.

Even if he is incredibly talented, being an effective power forward in the NBA is no easy task. If it were, this paucity of elite power forwards would not exist.

Although it is quite admirable that James will try to change his game for the sake of the team, I fear he will end up hurting himself by trying to change his offensive game in the middle of the season.

If James wants to help his team, he needs to stay away from any negative publicity and keep playing the game of basketball like he has his whole career.

He didn't become one of the best players in the NBA because if his post presence.
