Big 12 Basketball Discussion: Will Kansas Hang On? How Far Will Texas Fall?

Kip ReisererMar 1, 2011

It's that time of the week again, for the Big 12 basketball discussion, and there are many topics to cover.

It's kind of crazy how one week ago it seemed as if Kansas would miss out on the Big 12 title for the first time in six seasons and now the Jayhawks control their own destiny.

Will Kansas be able to hold onto this present gift wrapped from Texas or will they falter?

After all, Kansas does have to play Texas A&M and at Missouri to close the season.  The conference finale in Colombia should have some Jayhawk fans a little on edge.

What about Texas?  What do you think about UT's second meltdown in two seasons?

It's especially hard because they were just so close.  And to hand the Big 12 title back over to Kansas has got to kill the Longhorn fan base.  Yeah, UT is young, but to drop games at Nebraska and at Colorado is a hard pill to swallow.

Is Rick Barnes' job in jeopardy?  Sure, he's a fantastic coach but these two late-season blunders don't settle well with some fans.  Also, what seed do you think the Longhorns will grab in the NCAA Tournament now that their spiraling downwards?

Now onto K-State.

Who would have thought after one of the biggest meltdowns in Big 12 history and the loss of two scholarship players that Kansas State would be considered an elite team again.

Frank Martin sure has stared some game into the Wildcats as they have recently knocked off Kansas, Texas and Missouri.  Is Jacob Pullen not playing out of his mind lately?

With an NCAA Tournament berth in question just a few weeks ago, how high do you think KSU could land?

The bubble teams are still lingering in the middle of the pack.  Out of Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma State and Baylor who has the best shot at making the tournament?

Baylor has one more chance to prove something against Texas this Saturday, but the impact of beating Texas has fallen in the past week.

So many questions, so little time before they all get answered.

As always, discuss and let your opinion be heard!
