NBA Trade Rumors: 10 Players Who Make New York Knicks Legit in 2011
NBA trade rumors continue to circle as the season progresses and we're taking a look at the New York Knicks.
The Knicks have a lot of assets and some needs that they need filled and there's plenty of options that New York can look into to make things happen in the trade market. With that in mind, I've put together 10 options for the Knicks to explore to help improve the team.
If you agree or disagree or even have a player I didn't list, make sure to let it be known in the comments.
No. 10: Chris Duhon
1 of 10
One name that has been floated around to help give the Knicks some depth is Chris Duhon.
There have been whispers about a swap involving Duhon and Ronnie Turiaf but with Marcin Gortat being shipped out, there might be less chance of that happening down the line. He would give the Knicks some range and some size and would be a nice addition.
The Knicks could desperately use the depth.
No. 9: Steve Nash
2 of 10
This is ranked low just because of the chances of it actually happening.
There were rumors earlier in the season about Nash possibly being moved and if he is, the Knicks would make a lot of sense as a possible destination. Nash would be reunited with Mike D'Antoni and the system that has helped make him a two-time MVP.
However, Raymond Felton is playing great right now and unless the market for Nash really heats up, there's no point in making a move.
No. 8: Gerald Wallace
3 of 10
There have been talks of Gerald Wallace possibly being on the trading block and for the right price, he could be a good pickup.
Wallace is a guy who can help spread the floor for Amar'e Stoudemire and be a guy who can be a good complimentary player to him and would create a strong threesome for the Knicks to work with on the offensive side of things.
It will be interesting to see what the price is for him.
No. 7: Tayshaun Prince
4 of 10
Tayshaun Prince has been the subject of trade rumors and as a rental for the rest of the season, he could give the Knicks some defensive toughness.
You wouldn't need Prince's offense, but he could be a guy the Knicks would put on the opposing team's best scorer and slow him down. He's not a bad offensive player and New York could put him on the block from time to time and let him work.
He's not a bad option if the Pistons look to unload him.
No. 6: Daniel Gibson
5 of 10
The Knicks desperately need to cut Raymond Felton's minutes and Gibson has been talked about as an option.
New York could have Gibson come off of the bench and with the way he's been shooting threes recently, he could be a perfect fit in that Knicks offense. Can't you just see Gibson spotting up in transition and hitting rhythm threes?
That could be a deadly point guard duo for the Knicks.
No. 5: Marcus Camby
6 of 10
Raymond Felton isn't the only player that needs their minutes cut.
Amar'e Stoudemire is playing a ton of minutes right now and with his history of knee issues, putting extra strain on him could result in an injury and the end of New York's season. Trading for a guy like Marcus Camby wouldn't just give them defensive toughness, but would eat up minutes.
If you're a playoff team, you need a guy like Camby.
No. 4: Anderson Varejao
7 of 10
Anderson Varejao used to be a bit of a punchline for his flops and his hair, but he has quietly turned into a good player.
Varejao's a scrappy defender and he attacks the boards and he will block some shots for you. The Knicks could use that type of player and he's not a total lost cause on offense. He'll get you some points and I like his style of play.
There have been talks about him heading to New York and I'd like that trade for the Knicks.
No. 3: Jeff Green
8 of 10
Jeff Green was the center of trade discussions earlier this summer and with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook on the team and will be making big money, Green will be a restricted free agent next year and could be on the way out.
Green is a rangy guy who can hit the three and would be a nice fit in the New York offense. He can fill it up but has struggled a bit this year and could end up being sold low, but Oklahoma City GM Sam Presti works wonders and knows how to get good value back.
It's something I'd explore if I'm New York.
No. 2: Andre Iguodala
9 of 10
Andre Iguodala is a guy who looks like he's going to be traded sooner or later and the Knicks have talked about going after him.
If they can't get their hands on Carmelo Anthony, that could be a player that could be a good compliment to Amar'e Stoudemire. Iguodala is great on the break and that would work perfectly in the Knicks' offense and get those slam dunks that end up on the highlight reel.
He could be great in that system after being irrelevant in Philadelphia.
No. 1: Carmelo Anthony
10 of 10
He's the apple of New York's eye and a guy they have to get.
After losing out on LeBron James this summer, losing out on Carmelo Anthony would be a brutal blow to to the Knicks and their fans. The fans are hoping and praying for this and it looked like he wanted to come to New York, but now the door looks open for the Nets.
The Knicks may have to pony up and get him now instead of hoping he reaches free agency.
