WWE TLC Preview: 10 Things To Know About the Miz Vs. Randy Orton Match

Gina GeatchesDec 17, 2010

This Sunday at the Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view, Randy Orton will challenge The Miz for the WWE Championship.

The Miz won the WWE Championship via cashing in the briefcase he won on the July 2010 Money in the Bank pay-per-view. For months he teased cashing in the briefcase on Randy Orton and Sheamus, leading up to the night in which he cashed in on Orton. Miz won the championship from Randy Orton on the 22nd November edition of RAW, just after Orton successfully defended the belt against Wade Barrett.

Orton had previously held the championship for two months after he won it at the September pay-per-view, Night of Champions, when he defeated John Cena, Chris Jericho, Wade Barrett, Edge and Sheamus in a Six-Pack Challenge Elimination Match.

He successfully defended the belt against Sheamus at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. He later went on to  defend the belt successfully against Wade Barett, not once, but three times at the Bragging Rights pay per view, Survivor Series pay per view and on the 22nd November edition of RAW. However, he lost the belt to the Miz later that night.

Miz has been gloating in his victory ever since, and his ego only got worse when he defeated Jerry "The King" Lawler in his first successful title defense. Can Orton finally stomp on Miz’s ego, or will Miz continue to prove us all wrong come Sunday?

1. Miz is the future Heel of WWE

1 of 11

Like it or not, Miz is here to stay. He has climbed his way through the rankings of WWE since he first appeared in 2004 on season four of Tough Enough.

He has generated a lot of heat since his debut, partly due to his quick rise whilst other wrestlers, which some consider to be more talented, have been frozen still.

And with Orton’s recent face turn, Raw needs a new top heel.

2. Orton is the future Face of WWE

2 of 11

With Cena’s airtime being cut back due to possible backlash of older fans, Raw needed a replacement top face, and who better than Orton to take that place?

3. Miz proved us all wrong

3 of 11

Many thought that the Miz didn’t have what it takes to become a wrestler. Many thought that the Miz wouldn’t last long. Many thought he would sink without John Morrison. But he didn’t. Instead, he became the champion.

4. Orton won’t stay down

4 of 11

Regardless of injuries and personal setbacks Orton hasn’t given up. If anything, Orton has become more determined and driven than ever before.

5. This isn’t a one-match feud

5 of 11

This rivalry isn’t made to be a one-match feud. It has plenty of potential to grow and raise both wrestlers' games if given the chance.

6. Orton will always have one RKO left in him

6 of 11

Orton is known for turning matches around at the last moment with one RKO. One move could make the difference between a win and loss.

7. WWE has faith in Miz’s future

7 of 11

WWE has been pushing Miz for a reason, because they believe he's got something that the other wrestlers haven’t. Many fans complain they don’t see it, but regardless of that, WWE still have faith in him.

8. Orton is injured

8 of 11

News has been circulating the internet that Orton isn’t 100 percent at the moment. He may need to take some time off until he’s better.

9. Miz is still on a mission to prove us wrong

9 of 11

Despite him winning the belt recently, Miz is still determined to prove to the WWE universe how awesome he is. A short title reign just won’t do that.

10. This feud has been in the making for a while

10 of 11

This match wasn’t just stumbled upon. The Miz and Orton have had heat for a while, and Orton’s title loss to Miz only created more problems between the two.
