NBA Trade Rumors: Carmelo Anthony To the Knicks and 5 Necessary Moves
With Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony reportedly only willing to go to the New York Knicks in a trade, rumors of the New Jersey Nets, Chicago Bulls or any team swooping in to grab the superstar have quieted recently.
But guys like Andre Igoudala of the Philadelphia 76ers, Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns and Gillbert Arenas of the Washington Wizards all will likely come available before the NBA trade deadline, and all may be moved.
Here are five trades that should happen this basketball season and work under the salary cap.
Carmelo to the Knicks
1 of 5
New York receives: Carmelo Anthony
Denver receives: Eddy Curry (expiring contract), Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Landry Fields, and any picks they can get their hands on
The only question is: with the Knicks playing so well, should they get rid of so many pieces of a pretty good team?
VC to the Wizards
2 of 5
Washington receives: Vince Carter, Marcin Gortat
Orlando receives: Gilbert Arenas, Al Thornton (expiring contract)
This trade makes sense in theory.
But in the end, this might not do much for either team. Both owners will realize Carter and Arenas both have their problems, no matter where they're playing.
Iguodala to Dallas
3 of 5
Dallas receives: Andre Iguodala
Philadelphia receives: Caron Butler (expiring contract), Rodrigue Beaubois
The 76ers might not be as willing as people are suggesting to let go of Iguodala, since Evan Turner hasn't looked so good early on in his career.
Maggette to the Nets
4 of 5
Nets receive: Corey Maggette
Bucks receive: Troy Murphy (expiring contract)
Corey Maggette has been a failure for the Bucks.
If the Nets are willing to take on his contract, they could get the perimeter scorer that they desperately need.
Nash to the Rockets
5 of 5
Houston receives: Steve Nash
Phoenix receives: Aaron Brooks, Jordan Hill, Chase Budinger, Shane Battier (expiring contract)
The Suns would be wise to get something for Nash now while it isn't too late, but are they willing to take the criticism that will come from the fans?
