
Chris Paul, New Orleans Hornets, Leads Fantasy Basketball Top 10 Point Guards
There are plenty of point guards in the league, but when an owner drafts the one point guard who will put them over the top it’s a great feeling.
This season, we have a few surprises in the top five fantasy point guards in the moment.
Who are they?
Which players fall just short of the New Orleans magician Chris Paul?
Let’s take a look at the numbers for ten of the top fantasy point guards in the NBA.
10. Jason Kidd, Dallas Mavericks

The crafty veteran continues to produce.
In his third season with the stacked Mavericks, Kidd is performing just as well as he always has.
Kidd’s shooting percentage is down to 34.7 and his points per game is down to 7.7. He is still averaging 1.7 steals per game, 8.8 assists per game and 4.0 rebounds per game.
Kidd is still a major triple-double threat each week, which is why he cracks the top 10.
In his last game against the Utah Jazz and one of the top point guards in the league in Deron Williams, Kidd scored just three points but handed out nine assists and brought in two steals.
9. Tony Parker, San Antonio Spurs

Tony Parker may be on the decline on and off the court, but he is still finding ways to help his surging San Antonio Spurs and fantasy owners as a late round pick.
His field goal and free throw percentages are up to 51.3 and 77.4, respectively. His points are back up to 16.9 per game and he is averaging one full steal more per game with 1.6. Most important for Parker owners, his assist average is back up to 7.0 and he is pulling down 3.4 rebounds, one full rebound more than last year.
In his last game against the Portland Trailblazers December 12, Parker scored 14 points, stole the ball twice, and had six assists and rebounds.
8. Steve Nash, Phoenix Suns

Steve Nash is all the Phoenix Suns really have and he is doing the best a former two-time MVP ball-handling marvel can do.
Nash is averaging 18.4 points per game, up from 16.5 last season. He was actually perfect from all around on December 5 against the Washington Wizards while handing out 17 assists.
Nash’s field goal percentage is up to 51.3 but his three-point percentage is down to 32.7 and his free throw percentage is below 90 percent for the first time in four years.
He is also averaging 3.7 rebounds per game and is still averaging just over 10 assists.
In his last game against the Portland Trailblazers, he scored 24 points, had seven rebounds, dished out just five assists and stole the ball once.
7. Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors

Curry recently injured his ankle but was previously enjoying a nice sophomore season.
The sneaky and agile sharpshooter is averaging a career high 20.1 points for the lowly Golden State Warriors.
Curry is still trying to do it all for his Warriors, averaging 3.3 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game, which are actually down from his rookie campaign.
More importantly for Curry owners, he is averaging over two steals per game. His field goal percentage is up to 48.9 percent while his three-point percentage is on par with last year at 43.6.
In his last full game healthy against the Dallas Mavericks, Curry scored 21 points, stole the ball twice, dished out the rock four times and had six rebounds and turnovers.
6. Rajon Rondo, Boston Celtics

The court general for the Boston Celtics, Rondo is the team’s most important cog to this winning machine.
Rondo’s one mission each game: Dish out the rock.
Rondo leads the league in assists, averaging 13.7 per game. His shooting percentage jumped to 53 percent compared to last year although his point average is down to 11.2.
Rondo is one of the quickest and most fearless guards in the league, and is pulling down 4.6 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game.
In his last game against the Charlotte Bobcats, he scored just five points, dished out eight assists, stole the ball five times, grabbed five rebounds and also had six turnovers.
5. Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls

Rose is one of the bigger guards in the league and it shows when he is manhandling opposing point guards with or without the ball in his hands.
Rose is a dynamic playmaker and will pick it up even more now that Carlos Boozer has recently returned from injury.
Rose is among the league leaders in points for point guards with 25.1, which up from 20.8 last year. Rose is seeing the court better this season, averaging more than two assists per game the previous two seasons with 8.1 from 6.0. He is pulling down a career high with 4.3 rebounds and is also stealing one ball per game.
Rose is enjoying a career season and will only improve as he matures.
In his last game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, he had three rebounds, seven assists, zero steals, three turnovers, one block and 21 points.
4. Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder

Russell Westbrook is one of the NBA’s biggest surprises this season. After a fantastic 2009-2010 season and a good performance in the offseason, Westbrook entered this year as one of the game’s potential breakout stars.
He has more than lived up to the hype.
Westbrook is supremely athletic and has fantastic speed and quickness and may be the league’s most improved player this season along with Raymond Felton.
Westbrook is setting career highs in points. He is averaging 7.5 more points per game this season than last with 23.6. His shooting percentage has jumped almost three points as he is completing 44.6 percent of his shots. His free throw percentage has even leaped to 87.3 from 78 percent. His rebounding is up to 5.3 and his assists have gone up to 8.8 per game. He is also averaging almost one full steal more this year than last as he is taking 2.1 balls per game.
In his last game December 12 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, he scored 14 points, dished out 11 assists, grabbed three rebounds and stole the ball twice.
3. Raymond Felton, New York Knicks

Raymond Felton is thriving for the streaking New York Knicks who have won eight straight games.
Felton is enjoying a career season thus far in Mike D’Antoni’s run ‘n gun system.
Felton is an above average point guard but has good ball-handling skills and it seems his court vision is improving each game.
He is averaging career highs in points with 18.4, assists with 8.7, rebounds with 3.8, free throw shooting with 89.4 and shooting percentage with 46.2.
In his last game December 12 against the Denver Nuggets, he had a double-double with 19 points and 17 assists. He also had one steal, just two turnovers and three rebounds.
2. Deron Williams, Utah Jazz

Deron Williams is once again stating his case as to why he is arguably the best point guard in the league. Williams has a big, bruising body, which overpowers most of the other point guards in the NBA. It is this size advantage, equipped with excellent ball handling skills, court vision and quickness that rival him with Chris Paul for tops in the game.
This season, Williams has been more aggressive, scoring four more points this year than last, averaging 22.7 on 47.7 shooting percentage per game.
His rebounding matches his career high from last year with four. He is also averaging just over one steal per game and just under 10 assists.
In his last game against the Dallas Mavericks, he scored 34 points, dished out six assists, grabbed three rebounds and stole the ball twice with just one turnover.
1. Chris Paul, New Orleans Hornets

Chris Paul easily leads the list as he seems to be a magician with the basketball. Paul is one of the smartest players in the league with the ball in the hands and almost always finds the open man.
More importantly, he generally refuses to turn the ball over as he averages less than three a game.
Although Paul’s scoring and shooting percentage is down this season, he is still averaging 16.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
For the fourth straight year, Paul is averaging double digit assists with 10. He still has his lightning-quick hands, which helps him average 3.2 steals per game, better than any other point guard in the league.
In his last game on December 12 against the Philadelphia 76ers, Paul completed eight of 12 attempted shots, including two three-pointers, for 25 points, three steals, two rebounds and three assists.
