Tim Tebow: What Urban Meyer's Resignation Means for Him

Tim Tebow has a lot to think about right about now. The head coach that just gave away the world to get him to Denver has been fired and the head coach that got him a national title is now available. It is enough to make anyone's head spin. 

Urban Meyer has just stepped down as head coach of the Florida Gators. His decision has ramifications that can be felt all the way to Denver. 

Here some of those things.

Now that the head coach that drafted Tim Tebow is gone, interim head coach Eric Studesville is left to make sense of the faltering team. 

While he may have wished to run the team his own way, the availability of a star head coach in Urban Meyer changes things a bit. The Denver crowds love Tim Tebow and his team-first mentality. Now, Studesville not only has to get wins to drop the interim from his title, but he also has to find playing time for Tebow. 

Because now there is a reputable coach out there who will.

4. He Could Be Traded

Imagine the scenario where Urban Meyer does make the jump to the NFL. If it is a team other than the Broncos, that spells trouble for Tebow. 

It could very well be that Denver upper management could care less for the Tebow experiment. There are already rumors that a trade is brewing. What better trading partner to have than the team that Urban Meyer call home? 

3. Becomes Denver Folk Hero

The Broncos fans already love Tim Tebow. They have clamored to see more of the hard worker amidst a very forgettable season. As the Denver Broncos are left without an assured head coach, the clamor for some stability will start shortly. 

The Denver faithful will plead for the team to sign the uber-successful Urban Meyer. When that is slow to take off, they will demand that Tim Tebow be played. It is nice to daydream of what can fix your team when it is in despair.

Even if Tebow and Meyer are not the answer, blinded fans will scream that they want it. 

2. Teams Will Clamor For Him

If you are an NFL executive and you think the best way to net the greatest head coach in the BCS era of college football is to trade for a glorified backup quarterback, you get on the phone quickly. 

San Francisco, Carolina, Cincinnati, Dallas—all the places with tenuous coaching positions—will be asking about Tebow's services. The great thing is he will come cheap and the upside is you get Urban Meyer.

As soon as Urban Meyer resigned his post, the Tim Tebow talk began. It was almost too much of a coincidence that the Broncos job was open at the same time that Meyer stepped down. 

Now, the Internet is going crazy trying to make sense of it all. The one certainty is that Tim Tebow and Urban Meyer will be the sports headline for the foreseeable future.
