San Francisco Giants Find Their Shortstop, Sign Miguel Tejada
Here is what I wrote about 24 hours ago in regards to the San Francisco Giants’ shortstop situation:
"“Miguel Tejada: Seems like a Giants’ type of player. Good clubhouse guy, doesn’t walk and is considered a has been.”
"
I guess Giants’ GM Brian Sabean thought Tejada was a Giants’ type player as well.

San Francisco signed the 36-year-old to a one-year, $6.5 million contract on Tuesday. Tejada will also receive a $500,000 bonus.
Isn’t funny what a difference a year makes?
If this signing would have happened last year, Sabean would have been ripped from pillar to post. Now that the Giants won the World Series with the likes of Juan Uribe, Edgar Renteria, Aubrey Huff and Cody Ross playing major roles, it’s hard to bash these type of moves.
Instead of going for guys based on OBP or other meaningful metrics, Sabean goes after guys that having something to prove and have some type of chip on their shoulder.
That’s why I thought Tejada would be a good type for the Giants—he fits that bill.
Tejada is about five years past his prime, never heard of a walk (.312 combined OBP in 2010 with the Baltimore Orioles and San Diego Padres) and most people—including myself—don’t think he can play short anymore.
Yup, he will fit in quite nicely with the Giants.
Of course, there is still the outside possibility that Tejada can play third and the Giants still go after Jason Bartlett. With Pablo Sandoval and the returning Mark DeRosa still on the roster, I can’t see that happening. I think the Giants will give Sandoval one more chance to get his act together and let DeRosa play left.
One last thought on this signing: Did the National League West GMs get together and decide to play Player Roulette?
Juan Uribe went from the Giants to the Los Angeles Dodgers; Jon Garland went from the San Diego Padres to the Dodgers; Tejada went from the Padres to the Giants.
There is even talk that Brandon Webb might go from the Arizona Diamondbacks to the Colorado Rockies.
If I see Pat Burrell sign with another NL West team, then we know something is definitely up.
