Andy Murray would like to have the last few moments of his ATP Tour Finals semifinal loss to Rafael Nadal on Saturday back. He'll have to settle for having the No. 4 spot in the world back.
Murray flip-flopped spots with Sweden's Robin Soderling for the second time in seven days, finishing the year ranked fourth just as he did in 2008 and 2009. The Scot enters 2011 trailing No. 3 Novak Djokovic by 275 points. He leads Soderling by 180.
The rest of the Top 50 remained unchanged, with Roger Federer's victory over Nadal in Sunday's final putting only a small dent in the Spaniard's season-ending points lead of 3,305 (12,450 to 9,145).
The major jumps in the rankings came at the bottom end of the Top 100, where 20-year-old Lithuanian Richard Berankis soared 34 sports to No. 85 by winning the Challenger at Helsinki.
The official end-of-year Top 10 stands as follows: 1. Rafael Nadal, 12,450; 2. Roger Federer, 9,145; 3. Novak Djokovic, 6,035; 4. Andy Murray, 5,760; 5. Robin Soderling, 5,580; 6. Tomas Berdych, 3,955; 7. David Ferrer, 3,735; 8. Andy Roddick, 3,665; 9. Fernando Verdasco, 3,240; 10. Mikhail Youzhny, 2,920.
