NBA Fantasy Basketball: Biggest Bargains of the Season So Far
If you are like a big chunk of sports fans, you are addicted to all things fantasy, from football to basketball to baseball and everything in between.
And, if you have been keeping up with the young NBA season, you know that this season has been slightly crazy to say the least.
We came in knowing nothing for sure about the league, except for the fact that the Los Angeles Lakers were going to be a good team, now, as far as player to player, we know even less.
Veterans are struggling and it may be time to get rid of a few old favorites such as Chauncey Billups, Al Jefforson, and maybe even (gasp) Tim Duncan.
There have been a fair share of surprises in the mix too, as many players near the top of each category have played well over their previous production, and after drafting them low, look to be of great value so far this season.
Raymond Felton, PG New York Knicks
1 of 10
Raymond Felton may not have been drafted as low as some of the other players on this list, as his average draft position stands at around 60, but he has started the season on a torrid pace.
If you would have told me at the beginning of the season that a month in Felton would be playing better than the likes of Deron Williams, Steve Nash, Monta Ellis, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Tony Parker, Steph Curry and Derrick Rose, I would have smacked you.
But now, Felton is as hot as any player in the game, averaging 17.4 points, 7.7 assists, four rebounds two steals and around two three pointers made a game.
Every one of those numbers would be career highs for Felton, so he may be a guy to keep an eye on to sell when his stock is at its peak, or he may just have finally found his groove lobbing in gimmies to Amar'e Stoudemire.
Aaron Afflalo, SG Denver Nuggets
2 of 10
Looking for a guard that's available who can go for 20 points and 10 boards on any given night? Try taking a look at Afflalo.
Afflalo is available in almost half of all leagues and is producing quite well in the young season, making his average draft, around 140th, seem way too late.
Afflalo is averaging 12.3 points, half a steal, 2.5 assists and 4.5 boards a game, to go along with his 1.5 three-pointers per game.
He has shown improvement in every season since being drafted in 2007 by Detroit.
If he can overcome his inconsistencies he can be a definite Sleeper of the Year candidate.
Wilson Chandler, SG New York Knicks
3 of 10
Wilson Chandler is picking up this year where he left off last year, only people seemed to have forgotten what he did last year, as his average draft position is around 115th.
Chandler is a cinch to score 15-20 a night and can add a handful assists and rebounds here and there along with his ability to knock in the long ball.
He is averaging 15.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 threes a game, along with a monster two blocks per game.
Paul Millsap, PF Utah Jazz
4 of 10
Talk about a hole-in-one if you drafted this guy.
Millsap's average draft position is around 75th, but he is currently playing as the fourth best forward in the league.
Millsap has taken over for Carlos Boozer as the pick-and-roll partner for Deron Williams and it is showing in his stat line.
He is averaging 19.7 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, a steal and a block per game, absolutely clobbering his previous season's production.
Serge Ibaka, PF Oklahoma City Thunder
5 of 10
Serge Ibaka, along with having a fun name to say, is becoming a double double threat every night.
He has an average draft position of 120th, yet he is averaging 11.4 points, two blocks and seven rebounds a game.
Once the offense for the Thunder really starts clicking, it isn't a stretch to see him get up to around 15 a game or so.
JaVale McGee, C Washington Wizards
6 of 10
Sorry to gush, but I love this guy. I have an absolute man-crush on JaVale McGee. Everything about him, from his Tayshaun Prince arms to his wild dunks and great pick-and-roll combo with John Wall, is just fun to watch.
McGee's average draft is around 113th, yet he is playing as a top ten center right now.
He is averaging ten points, 8.6 rebounds and three blocks and a steal a game, along with his ability to absolutely explode on any given night, as shown by his 24 points, 18 rebounds and four blocks Tuesday night.
Roy Hibbert, C Indiana Pacers
7 of 10
Hibbert has an average draft rating of 88, but he is playing like a top five center in the league right now on the surprisingly competitive Indiana Pacers.
He is putting up 15.3 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.4 blocks per game.
Any time you can get a guy putting up a double double, plus more than a block a game and draft him later than 70 or so, he is definitely a bargain.
Dorell Wright, SF Golden State Warriors
8 of 10
If there is one thing that the Warriors can do, and do well its score. So, there is no wonder why Wright is thriving in the Golden State offense.
A guy who was lost in the depth chart in Miami has suddenly doubled his career high in point production on Golden State.
Wright is averaging 14.2 points, five rebounds and three assists per game, and he is doing it while shooting at a percentage well under his career norm.
If he continues to get shots, and goes back to shooting around 45%, he could go for 20 a game at will.
Landry Fields, G New York Knicks
9 of 10
It seems that Mike D'antoni's stat-padding offense is at it again, as three of the players in this slide show are from his team.
Rookie Landry Fields would definitely be a buy low, sell high type of guy, and his high point is probably approaching very soon.
He went undrafted in most leagues, yet he is averaging 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds a game.
Fields could definitely be a guy to pick up and try to flip for an upgrade at another position in a few weeks if he runs a string of good games together and gets some attention.
Kevin Love, PF Minnesota Timberwolves
10 of 10
His 30-30 game against the Knicks a few weeks ago got everyone excited about the guy, but he has been producing outstanding number all year long.
His draft isn't too low, averaging at about 55th, but his status as a top-15 producer, an instant double double, and his probability of winning a rebounding title going up every day, he was clearly under-drafted.
Love is averaging 18 points and 14 rebounds per game, plus is draining a three every game for an added bonus.
Kudos if you bit on Love before your comrades that you were drafting against, he was certainly worth it.
