Fantasy Football Week 8: Definitive Guide To 20 Best Start'em, Sit'em Moves
Fantasy Football Week 8 is quickly approaching and with that in mind I'm here to let you know which players to put in your lineup and which to avoid at all costs.
There's 10 to play and 10 to avoid and if you agree or disagree make sure to leave them in the comments below. If you want any advice on players not mentioned, make sure to leave that as well.
Good luck this week!
No. 10 Start: Chad Henne
1 of 20
Chad Henne isn't a heralded fantasy quarterback by any stretch of the imagination, but he'll certainly give you a solid performance on game days.
Henne is going up against the Bengals and the road where the Dolphins have not lost this season. The offense has opened up more and more for Henne and he's built up solid relationships with Brandon Marshall and Davone Bess.
I think Henne will keep producing this week if he's on your team.
No. 10 Sit: Jonathan Stewart
2 of 20
Jonathan Stewart has been one of the biggest letdowns this year in all of fantasy football and even though DeAngelo Williams may not play his week, just stay far away.
He's been brutal this year and the Panthers have been just a bad. The lack of success in the running game has been staggering and plenty of owners are fed up with how the seasons of both running backs in Carolina have gone.
It might be time to cut bait with Stewart.
No. 9 Start: Jason Witten
3 of 20
No one will benefit more from Tony Romo's injury more than Jason Witten.
Now that might be odd to hear seeing as Witten was one of Romo's favorite targets since the day Romo appeared on the scene in Dallas but Kitna is going to take a lot of checkdowns and that going to be Witten more times than not.
Witten's starting to produce and I think he will this weekend as well.
No. 9 Sit: Donald Driver
4 of 20
Donald Driver has been one of the most consistent wideouts in all of football but last week, he just disappeared for his team and his fantasy owners.
He's dinged up and that might have had something to do with it. He's not feeling any better this week and even though he might play, I'm not sure that he'll be any more productive than he was last week against Minnesota.
If you have other options, I'd look into them right now.
No. 8 Start: Matt Cassel
5 of 20
Matt Cassel has been playing well and there's no reason not to keep playing the hot hand in Kansas City.
He struggled at the beginning of the year but has turned it around and has started to fire on all cylinders with Dwayne Bowe and that could turn into a really potent connection if Charlie Weis can work his magic on that offense.
Plus, it's Buffalo, can you really afford not to play him?
No. 8 Sit: Ronnie Brown
6 of 20
Man, Ronnie Brown, what happened to you son?
I don't know if it's the death of the Wildcat as an effective offensive formation or just wear and tear, but Brown has not had a great season. He's been giving his fantasy owners nothing in recent weeks and it's just time to put him on the bench.
I'm sure you spent a high pick on him and for that, I am sorry.
No. 7 Start: Mike Wallace
7 of 20
Mike Wallace was making big plays long before Ben Roethlisberger came back from suspension.
Now he's kicked it into overdrive and has turned into one of Roethlisberger's favorite targets in the offense. Wallace is a deep play threat and he's going to get plenty of looks in the offense. He may not get a ton of grabs, but he'll probably pull in a few big gains that will help you out.
He's hard to sit on a weekly basis. Play him weekly if you ask me.
No. 7 Sit: Ryan Mathews
8 of 20
Ryan Mathews was supposed to be the successor to LaDainian Tomlinson. How's that working out?
Tomlinson is reborn in New York and Mathews is struggling in San Diego. That's gotta just burn A.J. Smith, who thinks he's smarter than everyone, up. The Chargers are struggling and trailing a lot and that's hurting Mathews' touches.
He should find a comfy spot on your bench.
No. 6 Start: Dez Bryant
9 of 20
If you're a Cowboys fan, sure you lost Tony Romo for what should be the rest of the season last Monday night, but hey, at least Dez Bryant looked good, right?
Bryant scored three touchdowns, two of them through the air and Jon Kitna seemed to enjoy throwing to the rookie and that's a connection to keep an eye on. It seems like he's finally starting to find his niche in Dallas and it could pay off against a weak Jacksonville secondary.
It has to, right?
No. 6 Sit: Michael Bush
10 of 20
No one is going to suffer more after Darren McFadden's big day than Michael Bush.
If you're a Bush owner who had him in your lineup, thinking he'd play this past weekend, only to see Darren McFadden running up and down the field, you have my deepest and most heartfelt condolences. McFadden tore up the Raiders and you have to think Bush will take a backseat now.
It was a good run while it lasted.
No. 5 Start: Darren McFadden
11 of 20
McFadden was having a good year before an injury slowed him down but now you just have to have him in your lineup, especially against Seattle.
Sure, he is still a little dinged up and there is a risk that he could spark that injury again and find himself right back on the bench, but with the way he's been playing this season, there's no reason not to have him in your lineup.
I think he'll have a big day against the Seahawks this week.
No. 5 Sit: Knowshon Moreno
12 of 20
Knowshon Moreno may have found the end zone twice last weekend against Oakland but keep in mind the situation.
Moreno did it in the middle of a massive blowout and got two garbage touchdown after the dogs were called off in that game. The running back has had a disappointing year to say the least and I don't see that changing against San Francisco this week.
I wouldn't start him unless you were totally desperate to do so.
No. 4 Start: Dustin Keller
13 of 20
Dustin Keller is one of Mark Sanchez's favorite targets in the offense and after healing up during the bye week I think he's a safe start this week.
Keller will work the seams with Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes drawing plenty of attention on the outside. The tight end and Sanchez have a strong connection and once the Jets get into the red zone he looks for Keller first.
With those types of looks, you have to start him.
No. 4 Sit: Brandon Jackson
14 of 20
Brandon Jackson had his best game of the season last week but I wouldn't read too much into that and put him in your starting lineup.
The Packers are going up against the Jets and against that defense, I don't think there are going to be many running lanes for Jackson to find. Aaron Rodgers is the heart of that offense and anything Jackson gets is a bonus.
I don't trust him and neither should you.
No. 3 Start: Jamaal Charles
15 of 20
Jamaal Charles is part of a potent two-headed monster in Kansas City and it's about to have a very big day this weekend.
Against Buffalo, Charles is going to find plenty of room and will likely see goal line touches as well and may possibly be a goal line vulture. However, the split between the two backs seems to be pretty decent and against that weak run defense, it should be a big day.
Matt Cassel's growth can only help Charles in the running game.
No. 3 Sit: Mike Sims-Walker
16 of 20
Oh Mike, don't think that we're fooled by you for one second.
Sure, you found the end zone last week and all and I'm real happy for you, but you've had such a disappointing year that until you prove to me that you can produce on a consistent basis, you're staying right on the bench where you belong.
Dallas should shut him down on Sunday.
No. 2 Start: Ryan Torain
17 of 20
With Clinton Portis on the shelf, Ryan Torain has done nothing but produce in his spot and there is no reason you shouldn't start him.
Not only that, but he's going against Detroit and that's about as favorable of a matchup as it gets. I'd have Torain in my lineup unless the matchup is just too brutal to risk it. I think he's going to have another big day and possibly put his name in ink on the top slot of the depth chart.
Don't be caught with him on your bench.
No. 2 Sit: Larry Fitzgerald
18 of 20
If you're Larry Fitzgerald, you cannot possibly be a happy man right now.
Kurt Warner leaves, Anquan Boldin is traded and now he's got Derek Anderson and Max Hall throwing to him which is almost a fate worst than death. Fitzgerald has struggled this season and is a flex play at best on most weeks.
There has to be a better option on your roster. There has to.
No. 1 Start: Thomas Jones
19 of 20
Like I said about Jamaal Charles, there's just great potential for Thomas Jones to just break out and have a huge game against Buffalo this week.
It's an unpredictable pairing with Charles and Jones but it's going to rack up yards, you just need to hope that one back does better than the other and my gut tells me that it's going to be Jones this week, my fantasy team hopes that I'm right.
It might be the best matchup in fantasy this week.
No. 1 Sit: Brett Favre
20 of 20
Just stay far away from Brett Favre. Far, far away.
Favre's on one leg and he's going to try play on his busted ankle and even if he was healthy, I'd tell you to stay away. He turns the ball over and over during the course of a game and you'll find yourself pulling your hair out if you start him.
I know he's sitting on my bench and I know that he'll be there for some time.
