Fantasy Football Week 8: First Look At Starts, Sits and Smartest Plays
Here is the first look at starts and sits for Week 8. Check this out just in case you have to put in an early bid into waivers.
This week is especially taxing on fantasy owners due to the number of teams on bye, so you have to get in your bids early.
Think about this, not only are Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, NY Giants, Philadelphia and Baltimore all on bye, but if you have Favre or Romo, you also need replacement players.
So here's a quick list of guys to keep on your radar.
20. Start: Roscoe Parrish
1 of 20
Steve Johnson is the secret stud on this team but he is probably already gone. Roscoe Parrish might be the only one of their top three receivers available.
Kansas City is vastly improved, but you saw the numbers Ryan Fitzpatrick put up against the Ravens.
And Parrish is still the starter.
19. Sit: Chris Chambers
2 of 20
Chambers is the starter for Kansas City. But in four games so far, he has seven catches for 76 yards and no touchdowns.
I don't know if he is still injured. I don't know what it is, but he has not done anything this year.
You would have to really be desperate to take a shot at Chambers.
18. Start: Dexter McCluster
3 of 20
This one is a wait and see, because there are rumors that he might be injured, although the Patriots West, er, I mean the Chiefs, aren't saying.
If McCluster is healthy you should grab him. Chris Chambers is in witness protection so someone has to catch balls opposite Dwayne Bowe.
Last week McCluster had four carries for 28 yards and five receptions for 41 yards. Not Chis Johnson numbers but the most he's had this season.
17. Sit: Matt Moore
4 of 20
Let me start by saying that I started Matt Moore one week this year and he almost gave me negative numbers.
Meaning he almost took away points that I already had. Not cool.
I wish I could tell you to take a shot with him against St. Louis this week, but the Rams have beaten much better quarterbacks than this.
Much better.
I say stay away. I'd gamble on Favre's limp or Tavaris Jackson before I went to Moore.
16. Start: Felix Jones
5 of 20
Now that Tony Romo is gone for awhile, one of two things are going to happen. Wade Phillips is either going to say "screw it, I'm fired anyway" and let the reins off of Kitna to throw the ball like he has in the past.
Or Phillips will be who he is and run the hell out of the ball until third down and long.
I'm thinking Felix Jones is a great start from here til the end of the season because he can catch out of the backfield and can possibly break long runs.
15. Sit: Jerricho Cotchery
6 of 20
You might be tempted to go with the third receiver for the New York Jets this week. Cotchery will get some catches against the hobbled Green Bay Packers.
But will he be able to get enough balls after Braylon Edwards, Dustin Keller and Santonio Holmes get theirs?
Probably not.
14. Start: Kellen Winslow
7 of 20
This is one of those weeks where you could grab a tight end like Kellen Winslow, who hasn't blown up this season yet, and ride him for a few weeks.
He is averaging six catches a game over his last three games.
By the way, he is going against the Arizona Cardinals this week.
13. Sit: Kevin Walter
8 of 20
Walter is still the starter across from Andre Johnson, but it seems as if Jacoby Jones is the second option for Matt Schaub. Walter was shut out against the Kansas City.
12. Start: Fred Jackson
9 of 20
Jackson got 23 attempts against the Baltimore Ravens and did as well as could be expected. Kansas City might give up a few creases.
I predict Jackson will get his first 100-yard game.
11. Sit: John Kuhn
10 of 20
Kuhn was a big pickup when everyone thought that Brandon Jackson was not going to be the man for the Packers.
But Aaron Rodgers either quarterback sneaks it or passes it in the red zone, so Kuhn doesn't even get the goal line carries.
Not a good start.
10. Start: Patrick Crayton
11 of 20
Even if Malcom Floyd were to play, Crayton would be worth a start since San Diego has totally given up on running the ball unless totally necessary.
The fact that Floyd isn't playing makes Crayton a must start as the Chargers season is circling the drain.
9. Sit: Ryan Mathews
12 of 20
He got benched in the second half of the Patriots game because of bad blitz pick up. And overall he has been a disapointment so far.
Until he has a breakout game, he should stay in your doghouse, because he sure is in the Chargers' dog house.
8. Start: Ryan Fitzpatrick
13 of 20
This is the perfect situation to try for a double up.
Grab Fitzpatrick and one of the Bills receivers and see if you can get a touchdown that counts for two.
You heard it here first, Fitzpatrick might be the second most prolific quarterback in the division by the end of the season.
I like him this week against Kansas City.
7. Sit: Cedric Benson
14 of 20
Benson has been solid all year, but the Dolphins run defense has been great as of late. They totally stopped Rashard Mendenhall, and he is better than Benson.
One of these two teams is going to be close to the end of their playoff dreams after this game.
6. Start: Eddie Royal
15 of 20
His numbers have been diminishing for the past three weeks, but the San Francisco 49ers are going to be gambling and blitzing and trying to get to Orton.
Royal will have a bounce back week.
5. Sit: Alex Smith
16 of 20
Pretty soon both Alex Smith and Mike Singletary are going to have to answer for this season and the lack of wins. Smith has too many weapons to not be a top 10 quarterback.
I predict Smith goes out in a blaze of glory, tossing the ball around.
But now that he is injured and the season is lost, even if he is greenlit, sit him.
4. New England Patriots Defense / Special Teams
17 of 20
Brett Favre will either be limping around or Tavaris Jackson will be making his season debut.
And with Brandon Tate playing special teams, New England might take one back the whole way.
The defense is young but this is a great game to take a chance on them.
3. Sit: Reggie Bush
18 of 20
Don't rush Bush back. He will be a weapon later this season, but just because he gets cleared to play this week doesn't mean he'll get major touches.
The man broke his leg a few weeks ago.
2. Start: Josh Freeman
19 of 20
He keeps getting better while the the league keeps losing quarterbacks to injuries. Try him as a spot starter and see how it feels.
Just wet your beak a little.
How bad can he be against the Cardinals?
1. Sit: Matthew Stafford
20 of 20
Stafford could be rushed back because Shaun Hill is out. He might not be ready. He will be great at some point. Maybe.
But don't play him now.
