NFL Scores Week 7: The Top 10 Scorers and How They Found the End Zone
The NFL scores for Week 7 included some staggering touchdown performances.
It was a week where the Raiders put up 59 points, the Titans racked up 37 and the Bills totaled 34.
Not exactly what you'd expect.
Here are this week's top 10 touchdown scorers (not including quarterbacks) and how they found the end zone.
10. David Bowens DL/LB, Cleveland Browns
1 of 11Two INT Returns for TD
Two scores for a defensive lineman? Yes, this happened.
David Bowens, the former New York Jet (and therefore current Mangini-favorite) picked off two Drew Brees passes, returning both for touchdowns. One went for 64 yards, and the other for 30.
The big man showed some impressive running skills and even better showmanship with a nice tumble into the end zone on his second touchdown.
If Peyton Hillis wasn't playing so well, we could have a running back controversy on our hands.
9. Knowshon Moreno, RB, Denver Broncos
2 of 11Two Receiving TD
Moreno, who looks like a bust so far after being drafted with the No. 12 overall pick in 2009, didn't have a great day with just 53 rushing yards on 14 carries.
But he impressed in the receiving game, catching a pair of touchdowns.
The blocking did most of the work for him on his 27-yard slip-screen touchdown, but a score is a score.
Except when you lose 59-14 to the Raiders.
8. Todd Heap, TE, Baltimore Ravens
3 of 11Two Receiving TD
Heap had a great day in an overtime victory against the Bills, catching touchdowns from 14 and 26 yards out.
But the real story was that his performance came after receiving this crushing blow from Brandon Meriweather, resulting in Heap being listed as questionable for this week's contest.
It was reassuring to see such a positive performance after this scary moment.
7. Dwayne Bowe, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
4 of 11Two Receiving TD
After catching just one touchdown in the first two weeks, Dwayne Bowe has exploded, with four in his last two games.
The chemistry is really starting to click with Bowe and quarterback Matt Cassel, although it also helps that the four touchdowns came against the Texans and Jaguars.
Bowe was especially impressive on this 53-yard touchdown, where he had no business making it into the end zone, but some nifty running did the trick.
6. David Gettis, WR, Carolina Panthers
5 of 11Two Receiving TD
Gettis, who not only is a rookie but was picked behind two other Panthers WR in this year's draft, clearly jumped ahead of them in the pecking order with this week's performance.
The former Baylor WR and sixth-round pick had eight receptions for 125 yards, and if it weren't for a dropped touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter, he could have had three touchdowns.
This touchdown may look easy at first glance, but check out Gettis' ankle-breaking route on Nate Clements.
5. Roddy White, WR, Atlanta Falcons
6 of 11Two Receiving TD
Roddy White had a monster game for the Falcons, with 11 catches and over 200 yards receiving.
His final touchdown, an 11-yard grab, sealed the victory for the Falcons, who needed every bit of help in their 39-32 thriller over the Bengals.
4. Michael Turner, RB, Atlanta Falcons
7 of 11Two Rushing TD
Lost in the hubbub of Roddy White's career day was a great performance by Michael Turner, who rumbled for 144 total yards and two scores.
But Turner's most impressive run of the day didn't go for a score. Check out the first run in this clip, a halfback draw in which "The Burner" broke three tackles en route to a big gain.
3. Lee Evans, WR, Buffalo Bills
8 of 11Three Receiving TD
Lee Evans, one of the more unappreciated wideouts in the league, went off against the stout Baltimore Ravens defense in a losing effort.
He topped 100 yards receiving due to a big performance by Harvard grad Ryan Fitzpatrick, 33 yards coming on this play where he simply runs right by the Ravens secondary for the score.
2. Kenny Britt, WR, Tennessee Titans
9 of 11Three Receiving TD
Britt, despite sitting out the Titans' first four series due to his participation in a bar brawl early Friday morning, singlehandedly outscored the potent Philadelphia Eagles' offense.
He topped 200 receiving yards with ease, even with the ancient Kerry Collins slinging him the ball.
This is one of the most impressive performances by a receiver in recent memory.
Make sure to check out his first TD grab, in which Britt completely disregards cornerback Ellis Hobbs to haul in the score.
1. Darren McFadden, RB, Oakland Raiders
10 of 11Three Rushing TD, One Receiving TD
Darren McFadden, the former first round pick, was the only player in the NFL to score four touchdowns in Week 7.
The Raiders won convincingly due to his performance, taking out the Broncos, 59-14.
There are just oh-so-many highlights of his to choose from, but make sure to watch him bowl over Perrish Cox and Renaldo Hill around the 1:18 mark of this clip.
McFadden was this week's top scorer, and with determination like that, it's not hard to see why.
Best of the Rest (QBs)
11 of 11Since quarterbacks were left out of these rankings (their inclusion wouldn't be fair to RBs and WRs, who naturally score less), let's see who the top scoring QBs were in Week 7.
1. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Buffalo, 4 TD
2. Carson Palmer, Cincinatti, 3 TD
3. Matt Ryan, Atlanta, 3 TD
4. Kerry Collins, Tennessee, 3 TD
5. Joe Flacco, Baltimore, 3 TD
6. Nine players tied with 2 TD
And make sure to check out Fitzpatrick's career day in a heartbreaking loss.
