NFL Scores Week 7: 10 Top Fantasy Football Scorers and How They Did I
The NFL scores for Week 7 were uncharacteristically high, with some fantasy football point totals that were off the charts.
Whether it was a result of defenses becoming cautious after the NFL’s helmet hit memos or just a plain aberration, Week 7 was certainly an exciting one.
And the producers of the scoring binge didn’t come from the usual suspects, as some surprising names put up big numbers.
Here are the 10 highest scorers (based on ESPN’s standard fantasy football scoring system) for Week 7, starting with No. 10.
10. (Tie) Washington Redskins D/ST
1 of 12Fantasy Points: 23
How they did it: 4 interceptions (all by DeAngelo Hall- one returned for a TD), 2 fumble recoveries,4 sacks, 14 points allowed
Score: Washington Redskins 17, Chicago Bears 14
This game shouldn't have surprised anyone, with the always erratic Jay Cutler going against the always-gambling ball-hawk, DeAngelo Hall.
Cutler never had a chance.
10. (Tie) Adrian Peterson, RB, Minnesota Vikings
2 of 12Fantasy Points: 23
How he did it: 28 rushes, 131 yards, 1 TD, 2 receptions, 41 yards
Score: Green Bay Packers 28, Minnesota Vikings 24
Nothing out of the ordinary for AD here, as he torched a mediocre Packers run defense. Unfortunately for the Vikings, Brett Favre pulled a Brett Favre, throwing 3 interceptions to hand the game to his former team.
9. Cleveland Browns D/ST
3 of 12Fantasy Points: 24
How they did it: 4 interceptions (2 returned for TDs), 2 forced fumbles, 3 sacks, 17 points allowed
Score: Cleveland Browns 30, New Orleans Saints 17
The Browns picking off Drew Brees four times? And a journeyman lineman returning two of them for touchdowns?
Raise your hand if you saw this one coming.
8. David Gettis, WR, Carolina Panthers
4 of 12Fantasy Points: 24
How he did it: 8 receptions, 125 yards, 2 TD
Score: Carolina Panthers 23, San Francisco 49ers 20
This performance came out of nowhere, from a rookie 6th rounder who was the THIRD WR picked by the Panthers in this year's draft (they chose Brandon LaFell and Armanti Edwards before him).
And this is doubly impressive when you consider it came with Matt Moore at quarterback.
Well done, David.
7. Michael Turner, RB, Atlanta Falcons
5 of 12Fantasy Points: 26
How he did it: 23 rushes, 121 yards, 2 TD, 2 receptions, 23 yards
Score: Atlanta Falcons 39, Cincinnati Bengals 32
The Burner put up monster numbers in a shootout against the Bengals, but wasn't even the top scorer on his own team.
Wondering who could top this in the same game?
Keep on reading...
6. Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, Buffalo Bills
6 of 12Fantasy Points: 28
How he did it: 29/43, 374 yards, 4TD, 2INT, 4 rushes, 20 yards
Score: Baltimore Ravens 37, Buffalo Bills 34 (OT)
The NFL's smartest man showed he isn't afraid to stick the ball in tight windowns, and was really impressive against one of the best defenses in the league, leading a late game-tying drive.
It was too bad that an overtime fumble by Shawn Nelson ruined his great performance, giving the Ravens the victory.
It's just been that type of year for Buffalo, who still hasn't gotten off the schneid.
5. Lee Evans, WR, Buffalo Bills
7 of 12Fantasy Points: 28
How he did it: 6 receptions, 105 yards, 3 TD
Score: Baltimore Ravens 37, Buffalo Bills 34 (OT)
Lee Evans really benefited from Fitzpatrick's gun-slinging attitude, catching three touchdowns.
It was a great performance by the speedy receiver, and really a shame that the Bills couldn't pull it out.
And who knows when the BIlls will get another chance like this to steal a game.
4. Carson Palmer, QB, Cincinnati Bengals
8 of 12Fantasy Points: 28
How he did it: 36/50, 412 yards, 3TD, 0 INT
Score: Atlanta Falcons 39, Cincinnati Bengals 32
Carson Palmer was really impressive in leading his team back from a 22-point deficit, but a late fumble by Cedric Benson cost them a chance at pulling it out.
Palmer had been awful so far this year, but maybe this is a sign of him finally regaining the form that made him one of the NFL's elite quarterbacks just a few short seasons ago.
3. Roddy White, WR, Atlanta Falcons
9 of 12Fantasy Points: 32
How he did it: 11 receptions, 201 yards, 2 TD
Score: Atlanta Falcons 39, Cincinnati Bengals 32
Roddy White was spectacular for the Falcons, who needed every bit of his scoring contributions in this shootout.
We know he has the talent, but these numbers are remarkable for anyone.
2. Kenny Britt, WR, Tennessee Titans
10 of 12Fantasy Points: 40
How he did it: 7 receptions, 235 yards, 3 TD
Score: Tennessee Titans 37, Philadelphia Eagles 19
This performance is even more astounding when you consider the fact that he sat out the Titans' first four series due to his participation in a bar brawl early Friday morning.
Britt has been criticized for his lack of focus early in his career, but you can't fault him for this game.
His career day came with 76-year old Kerry Collins at the helm, with Vince Young sitting out the game due to injury.
All I can say is, wow.
1. Darren McFadden, RB, Oakland Raiders
11 of 12Fantasy Points: 43
How he did it: 16 rushes, 135 yards, 3 TD, 2 receptions, 31 yards, 1 TD
Score: Oakland Raiders 59, Denver Broncos 14
The Raiders went absolutely ballistic in this one, with McFadden being one of the main reasons.
McFadden finally lived up to his post-Arkansas hype, delivering the day's best performance, with four total touchdowns.
On a day with such high point totals, Darren McFadden was even a notch above the rest.
Kudos to you, Darren McFadden.
