NFL Power Rankings Week 7: Rating The Quarterback Performances
Nearing the half-way point of the season, it's time to grade and rank the quarterbacks performances so far. Some quarterbacks have continued to play well, while others have fallen. Then again, some have made unexpected rises.
How do things shake out right now? Let's examine...
10. Jay Cutler, Bears
1 of 11
Last Week: L 23-20 vs. Seattle
17/39 passing, 290 yards, 0 td's, 0 int's
Upcoming Week: vs. Washington
Stock: Falling
Despite looking a little off coming back from his concussion two weeks ago in his team’s loss to Seattle, Cutler manages to hold onto a spot in the top ten. However, his spot is slipping. The Bears offensive line is weak, but Cutler also needs to make better decisions. He’ll have a chance to get his rhythm against the Redskins struggling pass defense.

9. Eli Manning, Giants
2 of 11
Last Week: W 28-20 vs. Detroit
20/30 passing, 177 yards, 2 td's, 0 int's
Upcoming Week: @ Dallas
Stock: Steady
Although Manning didn’t have a tremendous game, he avoided the mistakes and interceptions that have plagued him this year and let the ground game help out.

| 132 | 204 | 1479 | 64.7 | 7.25 | 54 | 10 | 8 | 11 | 86.2 |
8. Matt Schaub, Texans
3 of 11
Last Week: W 35-31 vs. Kansas City
25/33 passing, 305 yards, 2 td’s, 0 int’s
Upcoming Week: Bye
Stock: Rising
This may be a little high, but after leading his team to four consecutive touchdown drives to close out the game last Sunday in a come-from-behind win against the Chiefs, his stock rises. With the returns of Jacoby Jones and Andre Johnson, Schaub may have had his best game of the season.

| 127 | 197 | 1538 | 64.5 | 7.81 | 50 | 9 | 5 | 16 | 93.0 |
7. Aaron Rodgers, Packers
4 of 11
Last Week: L 23-20 vs. Miami
18/33 for 313 yards, 1 td, 1 int
Upcoming Week: vs. Minnesota
Stock: Steady
Playing with a thinned-by-injury receiving corps and coming off a game the week before in which he suffered a concussion, Rodgers threw for over 300 yards, but saw his team lose in overtime. Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but his stock has fallen this year because he’s already matched his interception total from last year. Still, he has had to overcome a lot of adversity to keep his team in the playoff hunt.
Season Statistics:
| CMP | ATT | YDS | CMP% | YPA | LNG | TD | INT | SACK | RAT | |
| 129 | 201 | 1546 | 64.2 | 7.69 | 86 | 10 | 7 | 14 | 89.7 |
6. Tony Romo, Cowboys
5 of 11
Last Week: L 24-21 @ Minnesota
24/32 passing, 220 yards, 3 td’s, 2 int’s
Upcoming Week: vs. NY Giants
Stock: Falling
With his team struggling at 1-4 this season and throwing five interceptions the last two weeks, Romo is falling in the quarterback arms race. A bruised left thumb may be nagging him, but the Cowboys are a team in disarray right now. He managed to stay in the rankings because his numbers are respectable and has had to force some throws in desperation to keep his team alive in games.

5. Kyle Orton, Broncos
6 of 11
Last Week: L 24-20 vs. NY Jets
14/24 passing, 209 yards, 1 td, 0 int’s
Upcoming Week: vs. Oakland
Stock: Steady
The way Orton is playing makes you wonder who got the better end of the Jay Cutler trade. Despite coming off his worst game of the season, Orton holds steady because of his play the previous five games. Orton has thrown a touchdown in every game this season and is averaging 324 yards passing an outing.

| 155 | 247 | 1942 | 62.8 | 7.86 | 61 | 9 | 3 | 13 | 94.2 |
4. Tom Brady, Patriots
7 of 11
Last Week: W 23-20 vs. Baltimore
27/44 passing, 292 yards, 1 td, 2 int’s
Upcoming Week: @ San Diego
Stock: Falling
After coming back from a 10-point deficit in the 4th Quarter to win, it’s hard to push down Brady. But a lot of it had to do with his counterpart, Joe Flacco, missing on opportunities. Although the downfield big-play ability of Randy Moss will be missed, the reacquisition of Deion Branch will help the Pats and Brady move the chains and keep the offense going. Brady slips because of the 2 int’s this week and because the absence of Randy Moss will show as the season wears on.

| 112 | 166 | 1203 | 67.5 | 7.25 | 46 | 10 | 4 | 8 | 98.5 |
3. Drew Brees, Saints
8 of 11
Last Week: W 31-6 @ Tampa Bay
21/32 passing, 263 yards, 3 td’s, 1 int
Upcoming Week: vs. Cleveland
Stock: Rising
Brees rebounded from a three-interception game and a knee injury the previous week with one of best performances of the year against the Bucs. The interception was on a tipped ball at the end of the first half. People had been wondering what happened to the Saints’ offense this season, but Brees’ play should silence some critics this week.

2. Phillip Rivers, Chargers
9 of 11
Last Week: L 20-17 @ St. Louis
22/37 passing, 249 yards, 1 td, 1 int
Next Week: vs. New England
Stock: Steady
Rivers’ stats are somewhat inflated by being put in positions where his team is down and forced to throw the ball, but he is putting together a productive year and has yet to have a bad game. Last week he started the game without Legedu Naanee and lost Antonio Gates in the first quarter. He was sacked a disturbing seven times, but, when rolling the game footage, most of them were out of his control.

1. Peyton Manning, Colts
10 of 11
Last Week: W 27-24 @Washington
25/38 passing, 307 yards, 2 td’s, 0 int’s
Upcoming Week: Bye
Stock: Steady
In his 13th season no one has shown the consistency that Manning has over the last decade. Entering Week 7, he has his highest quarterback rating since 2005. The Colts have a spotty defense at best and are sloppy on special teams, but because of Manning they remain a contender.

Others: Rising, Falling, and Holding Steady
11 of 11
Rising
1. Kevin Kolb, Eagles
After a rough start, actually a dreadful start, the Vick injury has given Kolb a second chance that he is taking advantage of after a 326 yard, 3 TD performance. But the jury is still out.
2. Matt Ryan, Falcons
On pace to have his best season, he's led the Falcons to the top of the NFC South
3. Mark Sanchez, Jets
Despite not throwing for 200 yards the third consecutive game, Sanchez has avoided the mistakes that hurt him last year and is growing in the Jets' system. With a strong defense behind him, Sanchez should continue to have a good situation in which to make strides.
4. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Bills
In an otherwise dismal season, Fitzpatrick has put together some decent numbers. He probably isn't the long-term solution, but he's a small bright spot for the Bills if he continues to play the way he has.
5. Sam Bradford, Rams
Who would've though the Rams would be 3-3 right now? Although Bradford's numbers are nothing to brag about the rookie is making big strides.
Falling
1. David Garrard, Jaguars
Garrard left last week's game with a concussion, but has yet to throw for 200 yards in a game this season.
2. Donovan McNabb, Redskins
McNabb is sporting his lowest rating since his second year in the league
3. Lions Quarterback Situation
With Matthew Stafford still out, the Lions saw Shaun Hill go down as well. He's likely out for a few weeks.
4. Derek Anderson, Cardinals
Cardinals will need to address QB situation this offseason
5. Raiders Quarterback Situation
The Raiders don't have a quarterback, they have two below-average ones
6. Panthers Quarterback Situation
Like the team, the quarterbacks have struggled as well
7. Browns Quarterback Situation
Still figuring things out
8. Vince Young, Titans
Despite gaudy QB rating, is averaging just 124 yards passing a game
Steady
1. Chad Henne, Dolphins
2. Matt Cassel, Chiefs
KC signal-caller still hearing it from fans, but played pretty well last week
3. Josh Freeman, Bucs
4. Joe Flacco, Ravens
Made some mistakes in the 4th quarter and overtime last week, but overall has been alright
5. Carson Palmer, Bengals
6. Matt Hasselbeck, Seahawks
7. Alex Smith, 49ers
Guiding his team to their first win in his best game of the season last week
8. Brett Favre, Vikings
Playing better the past couple weeks. Maybe, amidst the distraction, he has settled down
