NFL Power Rankings Week 5: Jets, Steelers and Ravens Rise But Who's No. 1?
What’s the biggest surprise this season so far? The flurry of injuries that’s hurt teams early this year, or the Kansas City Chiefs?
Considering that the Kansas Chiefs are the only undefeated team left in the NFL, they’re on the top half of this list.
How else does everyone rank? Click to find out.
Here's an early look at the NFL power rankings heading into Week 5.
32-28. The Bottom Five
1 of 24
32. Buffalo Bills, 0-4, lost to New York Jets
Weak on both sides of the ball. They’re the worst-team in the league, hands down.
31. San Francisco 49ers, 0-3, lost to Atlanta
Now that their offensive coordinator is gone, who else is there to blame? Maybe Defensive coordinator Dave Manusky for not teaching his players to go down with the ball after a key interception late in the game.
30. Detroit Lions, 0-4, lost to GB
Familiar territory for the Lions, losing Stafford was a big blow but Jahvid Best needs to learn how to learn to be consistent.
29. Carolina Panthers, 0-4, lost to New Orleans
With a rookie quarterback and Steve Smith out from a high-ankle sprain, their running game needs to step up.
28. Oakland Raiders, 1-3, lost to Houston
Darren McFadden has picked up his game, will the rest of the team follow?
27-23. Top Half Of The Bottom Ten
2 of 24
6. Cleveland Browns, 2-2, beat Cincinnati
With a weak defense and questions surrounding their receivers, Peyton Hillis has been the lone bright spot this season.
7. Arizona Cardinals, 2-2, lost to San Diego
Beanie is back but the Chargers stopped the run.
8. Jacksonville Jaguars, 2-2, beat Indianapolis
Notch a big win for the Jags with their victory against the Colts.
9. Dallas Cowboys, 1-2, bye
The ‘Boys were lucky to pull one out against the Texan before the bye week. Overall, a very disappointing start.
10. Seahawks, 2-2, lost to St. Louis
With Pete Carroll around, there’s going to be plenty of changes to this squad. If they don’t pick it up soon, Whitehurst could be in Hass could be out.
22. Minnesota Vikings, 1-2, Bye Week
3 of 24
A Brett Favre revival needs to get underway, otherwise he just may call it a career in the middle of the season.
Seriously, he could totally pull something like that.
21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 2-1, Bye
4 of 24
The Bucs have surprised everyone with a fast start.
The youngsters can play, they just need the experience.
20. Cincinnati Bengals, 2-2, Lost To Cleveland
5 of 24
TO had a coming out party for the Bengals with 222 yards and a TD.
If only they can get him and Ocho going at the same time.
19. Denver Broncos, 2-2, Beat Tennesee
6 of 24
Kyle Orton looks to be the real deal but he’s got a shortage of weapons on offense.
Add to that a running game that’s constantly injured or flat-out ineffective and this Broncos team could be in for a long season.
18. Miami Dolphins, 1-2
7 of 24
Chad Henne is learning that it’s great to play with a top-receiving threat like Brandon Marshall.
The rest of the Dolphins receivers are underrated.
Once their running back tandem of Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown gets clicking, look out.
17. St. Louis Rams, 2-2, Beat Seattle
8 of 24
The Rams have looked very good in their last two games. Sam Bradford had a career best with 296 passing yards, 2 TD’s and 1 INT against the Seahawks.
The emergence of Mark Clayton as his top-receiver and a healthy Steven Jackson could turn the Rams into possible playoff contenders.
16. Philadelphia Eagles, 2-2, Lost To Washington
9 of 24
The Eagles took a big blow after they lost Michael Vick to injury.
As evidenced by Kevin Kolb’s presence and conservative play after Vick went down they’re just not as fun to watch with Vick sidelined.
15. Washington Redskins, 2-2, Beat Philadelphia
10 of 24
Donovan McNabb came back to Philly looking to do well.
He only threw for 125 yards, 1TD and 1INT, but more importantly he came away with the win.
14. Tennessee Titans, 2-2, Lost To Denver
11 of 24
The Titans have looked very well defensively. Their run defense gave the Broncos fits this weekend.
Vince Young needs to do his share of work on offense.
13. New York Giants, 2-2, Beat Chicago
12 of 24
Eli and the Giants managed to win an ugly looking game late Sunday night.
With all the talk of Eli’s passing and his receivers, it was Ahmad Bradshaw and the Giants defense that impressed.
12. San Diego Chargers, 2-2, Beat Arizona
13 of 24
The Chargers overpowered the Cardinals 41-10.
With contribution from both sides of the ball, they showed that they have plenty of potential for success this year.
11. Chicago Bears, 3-1, Lost To Giants
14 of 24
Jay Cutler looked very lost running Mike Martz’ offense on Sunday night. He held on to the ball way too long and was sacked a record 9 times at the first half.
After a perfect start, their first loss looked very, very ugly.
10. Houston Texans, 3-1, Beat Oakland
15 of 24
They have a prolific pass in Matt Schaub, and they boast a stud running back Arian Foster.
But their pass defense needs to improve.
9. Indianapolis Colts, 2-2, Lost To Jacksonville
16 of 24
Many predicted that Peyton Manning would toast the Jacksonville pass defense and have a field day.
They didn't but call it at off day, it shouldn't happen again. The Colts were hurting from injuries.
8. New England Patriots, 2-1
17 of 24
Brady and company are always in the hunt.
7. Kansas City Chiefs, 3-0, Bye
18 of 24
Who knew that he Chiefs would be the last undefeated team standing?
Believe it.
6. Atlanta Falcons, 3-1, Beat San Francisco
19 of 24
Playing against the 49ers, the Falcons needed some luck beat them in the game’s last seconds.
5. Green Bay Packers, 3-1, Beat Detroit
20 of 24
Rodgers can throw with the best of them, the early loss of Ryan Grant could haunt them later this year.
4. New Orleans Saints, 3-1, Beat Carolina
21 of 24
They’re the defending champs and they’ve been getting by with their early injury woes.
There’s still plenty of room for improvement.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers, 3-1, Lost To Baltimore
22 of 24
The Steelers have the return of Ben Roethlisberger to look forward to and their defense looks great with the return of Troy Polamalu.
2. Baltimore Ravens, 3-1, Beat Pittsburgh
23 of 24
Their defense has been solid as usual.
Once Flacco and the rest of their offense get rolling, look out!
1. New York Jets, 3-1, Beat Buffalo
24 of 24
LaDainian Tomlinson is also looking like his old self.
