Season of Unpredictability: The 2010 NFL Season Could Be The Most Exciting Yet
With the structure of the league and the NFL Draft system, one aim is to increase the competitiveness of the NFL. Giving the worse teams from the previous season the early draft selections is to help them improve so they can compete.
Even though we're only heading into Week 4, it seems as though this season could be the most competitive yet.
When all is said and done in Week 4, we could be looking at 20 teams with a 2-2 record.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
If the Bills beat the Jets, Steelers beat the Ravens, Browns beat the Bengals, Raiders beat the Texans, Broncos beat the Titans, Jaguars beat the Colts, Chargers beat the Cardinals, Redskins beat the Eagles, Giants beat the Bears, Lions beat the Packers, 49ers beat the Falcons, Panthers beat the Saints, Rams beat the Seahawks and the Dolphins Patriots game doesn't end in a tie, then we'll have 20 teams at (.500).
I know the chances of all these results happening are close to zero, but it makes a point : the NFL looks more competitive this year.
At this point last year, heading into Week 4, there were seven teams with a 3-0 record. Only three teams remain with an unbeaten record this season - the Chiefs, Steelers and Bears.
With the Bears on the road to the Giants and the Steelers with a tough division game against the Ravens, the Chiefs, who are on a bye week, could be the only unbeaten team left a quarter of the way through the season. A quarter of the way through last season, five teams had a 4-0 record.
Ironically, the Chiefs were one of the seven teams with an 0-3 record at this point last season. That's two more than the five teams still looking for a win this season.
Not a big difference, but no team looks like they are threatening to go winless for the whole season.
The Browns (0-3) haven't lost by more than a score and the Lions (0-3) should have beaten the Bears in Week 1. So even the winless teams are looking like they can win games this year.
With the increased competitiveness, expect the NFL to be a lot closer this year.
Divisions such as the AFC West, having previously been dominated by the San Diego Chargers, are looking more open.
Although I still expect the Chargers to win the division, they look to have a bigger challenge on the hands, especially with the presence of a 3-0 team who beat them in Week 1.
The Titans and Texans look to be challenging the Colts in the AFC South, and if the Jaguars can pull off an upset against the Colts this week, it will make things interesting. The Dolphins, Jets and Patriots, all 2-1, look set to battle it out for the East.
The same goes for the Steelers, Ravens, and Bengals, who are three talented teams fighting it out for the AFC North.
In the NFC East any one team could win it. The Cowboys, Giants, Redskins and Eagles are set for a free-for-all.
The Packers, Bears, and Vikings are all talented teams in the NFC North, with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers looking the most likely to challenge the Bears' early lead.
Those expecting an easy division win for the Super Bowl champion Saints should think again. The Falcons are looking good, as are the Buccaneers who have started 2-1 after an 0-3 start last year.
Possibly the worst division in football, the NFC West has no clear winner, making it a tough one to call.
So the competitiveness of the NFL is at an all-time high with a three-team battle in many divisions. This means divisional games are all the more important, and we will see some exciting games as the season starts to unfold.
Are we going to see teams start to pull away after the first quarter of the season? Some may think so, but in the words of Lee Corso, ''not so fast.''
No team has shown they are early candidates for the Super Bowl. The all-new competitiveness in the league makes for an interesting and unpredictable season.
There are a good 15 teams that could eventually make the Super Bowl.
This one is going to go down to the wire.
