Atlanta Falcons' Meaty Stable of RBs Are Ready To Trample the New Orleans Saints
They say the game is won in the battle of the trenches. The determination to go over, and around defenses; these birds aren’t rolling over for anyone, they run right through them. Add a diverse passing attack, plus an up and coming defense, gives you an interesting package.
Is this a Super Bowl mix? Not yet, consistency is needed; but they made an impressive showing this week.
Week 1 in the season often has a lot of extra baggage associated with it such as uneasy nerves. Week 2 allows teams to iron out what they have a little bit better. The Falcons are beginning to show that they have some key ingredients to becoming a team that will be making a deep run in the playoffs: balance, depth, toughness and a thick, beefy backfield.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
I’m sure the Cardinals scouted the 1st grade, USDA Prime back in Michael Turner (5-10, 244 lb’s), his ground chuck carrying fullback Ovie Mughelli (6-1, 252 lb’s) and the ground round back up in Jerious Norwood (5-11, 209 lb’s) but who is this Jason Snelling guy? Arizona played like they didn’t know either.
He is the guy, behind the guy, who is behind that guy. At 5-11, 223 lb’s of defense tiring, ground sirloin of fun; these Falcons are built for the long haul at the running back position. Injuries happen in football and adversity is just a tackle or pulled groin around the corner; but this team is proving to be tough and resilient bunch.
Norwood and Turner both went down with injuries, but that didn’t stop the stampede. The Falcons racked up 223 yards passing, and 221 yards on the ground and held the Cardinals to 267 total yards with 3 takeaways.
“You have to be prepared for your opportunity. When you get your chance, you have to make plays. When a guy goes down, they are not expecting a let-down. They want you to get in there and perform,” Snelling said. That he did for a total 129 carries, with 24 carries for an average 5.4 yards and 2 touchdowns. Nice work for the guy considered to be an afterthought, buried deep on the bench.
After the game Mughelli thought highly of the young back stating that, “Jason is a heck of a player. I’ve been saying that since his rookie year. Somebody said that he might hold out for a new contract before the next game. We might have a grievance on our hands. Jason is one heck of a back.”
If the Falcons can sustain this momentum it should be quite a show this coming Sunday when they travel to New Orleans to face the defending champion Saints. “For what we did today, we have to take it in stride and we have to realize that it’s not always going to be like that. We definitely have to take some confidence from it and build on it. The (offensive) line deserves a lot of credit for coming out here and playing with a chip on their shoulders,” future Hall of Famer, Tony Gonzalez stated.
It’s good to have a pair of steady hands, help hold the reins back before these horses gallop to soon.
