Toronto Raptors: Why Andrea Bargnani Will Show His True Potential This Season
When Andrea Bargnani was taken with the first overall pick in the 2006 NBA entry draft, most raptors fans were excited to see how the first overall pick would pan out with the raptors. Luckily for Raptors fans, Andrea Bargnani did just that as he would do well in his rookie season. And ever since his rookie season, he has been improving, averaging more points per season, every season. Sure, he isn't Brandon Roy, or Lamarcus Aldridge, but with more playing time, and much better stats he easily could be.
He is possibly one of the best 3-point shooters in the league, and if he would drive into the paint more often and post up more often, he could easily be one of, if not the best, post player in the current NBA.
With Chris Bosh gone, Bargnani is the franchise player for the raptors, and possibly the new captain of the team. In only his 4th year in the NBA, he has to carry the team on his shoulders and that is a very tough position to be at this current moment, when your team is considered the worst team in the league at the current moment. Also, with Bosh gone, Bargnani will have the ability to average more than 6 rebounds per game which is a very low number for a starting centre. Along with the rebounds, Bargnani could easily average 20 – 22 points per game and 1.5 blocks per game.
Luckily for the Toronto Raptors, with the acquisition of Leondra Barbosa, and the drafting of two inhuman players in Ed Davis, and Solomon Alabi, the raptors are looking towards a better future.
Hopefully with yet another successful season in the NBA, the young Raptors Centre could prove what he's worth to the entire NBA
