Five NBA Players That Will Not Be Traded This Summer Despite the Rumors
This Article Courtesy Of Rip City Report
The league is always full of rumors.
This guy is going to that place, that team is looking to rebuild, and this team is looking to build a dynasty.
But we can't be sure of anything until it actually happens.
This offseason has been full of action for us NBA writers, full of trades, big name signings, and especially trade rumors. Just the LeBron James hype alone was enough action for an entire summer.
Not to mention Dwyane Wade staying put and Chris Bosh joining the three to complete the super-team.
It really was a summer of excitement.
But now it's over; October is quickly approaching and there are still big name players looking for a change in scenery.
And my guess is that these players won't be ordering a U-Haul anytime soon.
This is a compilation of the Five players left that will not get a new home come training camp.
Thanks for Reading.

Rudy Fernandez

Rudy Fernandez has caused himself a lot of pain.
First, he struggles in the playoffs in a starting role that he demanded for a year. Then he comes out in the summer and complains to the Spanish media about how the team just isn't seeing his potential and won't give him an opportunity to shine.
After multiple attempts at shipping the disgruntled guard elsewhere, he begins to complain more often to the Spanish media.
Eventually, he demands a trade, stating that he would sit out the remaining two years of his contract with the Portland Trail Blazers if they were not able to trade him.
Long story short, Rudy Fernandez has hurt his trade value to the point that it will be difficult to find any place for him to go, let alone a place that is willing to give up a first round draft pick in return.
Hope from the Trail Blazers camp was that Rudy would live up to his hype in the World Championships, boosting his trade value exponentially and convincing teams that his game warrants a draft selection.
That didn't happen.
Rudy didn't struggle, but he didn't blow anyone out of the water either.
Heck, if he is playing well he is an asset that could push the Portland Trail Blazers over the top.
Chances are that if the Blazers can't find what they want for their guard, they will sit on their hands and expect Rudy to play the remainder of his deal.

Carmelo Anthony

Rumors fly high on the trade front for the Denver Nuggets star. But if he is going to be traded anywhere, it will not be the teams that he has been associated with.
There is no way that the Nuggets would trade a superstar to a Western Conference opponent unless they have absolutely no chance at a playoff spot.
It is also unlikely that the Nuggets would trade Carmelo to an Eastern Conference team with a lot of talent.
Cross the Bulls and Magic off the list.
And the Nuggets want to get something in return for their best player.
Sorry, New York.
Really, the only option left for the Denver Nuggets is the New Jersey Nets, which, in reality, are not that terrible of a team and with the addition of Carmelo would be a playoff team.
All rumors aside, the Nuggets seem to be unwilling to service any trade that involves Anthony.
If someone wants Carmelo Anthony, it is likely that they would need to take on J.R. Smith or Kenyon Martin as well.
Both characters could deter the few trade suitors that are left.
If Carmelo goes anywhere, I suspect it would be at the end of his contract, right before the trade deadline.
Not this summer.

Erick Dampier

The Dallas Mavericks traded Erick Dampier to the Charlotte Bobacats for Tyson Chandler and now the Bobcats just want the big contract off of their books and Dampier to go away.
Right now, it is more likely that the Bobacats will either waive him or come to an agreement to void the contract rather than trade him to another team.
Because of Dampier's large contract other teams will likely shy away, making any deal very unlikely.
Considering Dampier is set to make over $12 million next season, I'm not sure that he would accept that possibility with open arms. But if he wants to play basketball next season, I'm sure that he will need to make sacrifices.
Erick Dampier may be able to get traded, but in all likelihood his release or voided contract makes more sense for the team holding all the power.

Chris Paul

There were so many franchises hoping, wishing, and praying for Chris Paul to be traded.
He was supposed to change the outlook of the Western Conference by being traded to the Portland Trail Blazers.
Give the Mavericks new life.
Provide Superman with a sidekick in Orlando.
Whatever he did, he wasn't supposed to play for the New Orleans Hornets next season because that wouldn't fill the headlines.
Maybe the Hornets found a way to talk Chris Paul down, telling him that soon things would be better. A trade was in the works that would mix up the roster a little bit and provide a secondary scoring option for the all-star.
Certainly they didn't tell Chris Paul that Darren Collison, the teams young backcourt partner for Paul, would be leaving in the trade.
The Hornets haven't gotten better and the only thing that could keep them from becoming a low lottery pick would be Chris Paul himself.
Unfortunately, Chris Paul won't be with the Hornets for much longer. If you followed the LeBron James scenario, you learned that it was best to trade away your superstar before his contract expires.
Just saying New Orleans, Chris Paul isn't going to be on your team for much longer and I would feel safe in betting that he isn't going to sign a new contract when his current one expires.
With that said, we all expected that Chris Paul would be gone by now.
Sorry New York, your going to have to wait until at least the trade deadline of next season.

Tony Parker

When the wife of a superstar NBA player talks, the news outlets in America listen.
So when Eva Longoria says that Tony Parker wants to play for the New York Knicks, we have to believe that there is some truth to that notion.
Anyways, the Knicks seem to be in all sorts of trade discussions even if they don't have the assets to pull off any blockbuster deals.
Really.
How are the Knicks going to put together an enticing trade package for Chris Paul or Tony Parker and then also snag Carmelo Anthony?
They don't have enough pieces for one of those guys, let alone two big name free agents.
If there is a trade that is more dead in the water than Tony Parker to the New York Knicks then I'd like to know.
There are a load of teams that would love to snag a top level point guard like Parker, but I don't think that the San Antonio Spurs are ready to part ways.
It just isn't the right scenario.
