7 Reasons Josh McDaniels' Denver Broncos Can Win The Super Bowl
The consensus about expectations for the Denver Broncos this season is that there is no consensus. But this isn't entirely true. There wasn't a single ESPN expert who selected the Broncos to make the playoffs as a division champion or a wild card. By saying there's no consensus, what that really means is that there's no consensus on whether the Broncos will be okay or awful.
On NFL Eve, here are seven reasons the Broncos could win it all this season.
Bye Week Placement
1 of 7
Last season the Broncos shocked the NFL by starting out 6-0. During that span, they weren't playing cupcakes. They got a miracle in week one vs. The Bengals, but they also knocked off the Cowboys, Chargers, and Patriots in the three weeks leading up to their bye week. The bye week gave them a chance to think about how much they were over-performing and the Ravens smacked them in the mouth after their week off.
This year, their bye week is two weeks later. If they get off to a fast start again, they'll have longer to maintain their momentum and rack up a couple of extra wins.
And this time, the second half of the season is filled with teams they should be able to get enough wins against to actually win the AFC West.
Ladanian Tomlinson Is No Longer a Charger

I don't care how "bad" LT was last season; he is the player who destroyed Denver for the better part of the last decade. Ryan Mathews is no LT. Period. The Chargers are the most overrated team in football.
The Chiefs and Raiders Suck

See that picture? If you combined the rosters of the Raiders and Chiefs, the player pictured would be the best player on the newly combined roster. The Raiders have a "Commitment to High Draft Picks" and the Chiefs have Matt Cassel who was only good for one reason—which leads us to slide #4.
With LT gone from San Diego and The Raiders and Chiefs Being the Raiders and Chiefs, there's no reason to think the Broncos can't do what they were in position to do the last two seasons and win the AFC West.
The System

The Broncos system takes time to learn. Coach McDaniels said that it takes at least a year to truly understand the nuances of the system and maximize its potential. Kyle Orton may not have a rocket arm, but people forget that he was a Heisman candidate before his injury at Purdue. The Broncos are going to score this season early and often.
The Second Year Head Coach
5 of 7
Tom Flores, Joe Gibbs, Barry Switzer, Brian Billick and Mike Tomlin. Those are the five coaches who won the Super Bowl in their second season as head coach. There are 27 coaches who have ever won a Super Bowl. 18.5% won it in their second year. This isn't an overwhelming amount, but it's higher than any other year. Remember, this is an article about how the Broncos can with the Super Bowl this year. You have to forgive a little stretching.
Divine Intervention

If God actually cares about football, now that Kurt Warner is gone, there's only one team he'll be cheering for this season. Amen.
The Saints Did It

If the Saints—The SAINTS—can win a Super Bowl anything is possible.
