Why Rajon Rondo Is One Of The League's Best Point Guards

Hello BleacherReport readers, this is my first article on BleacherReport so please any opinions or feedback that you have is welcome and accepted and I encourage your constructive criticism, it will only make me a better writer.

When people talk about who is the top point guard in the NBA, usually only two names are mentioned:Chris Paul and Deron Williams, these two young stars are phenomenal and have every right to be called the best point guard in the league, but a few other names should be included in that conversation: One in particular is Rajon Rondo. Even before Rondo came into the league, he was doubted and maligned by spectators and analysts abroad, many felt that the fact that he couldn't shoot at the time made him not even worth drafting, but after four years in the league, he's proved his critics wrong. Not only has his jump-shot drastically improved, he's turned into one of the leagues premier players and the leader of the Boston Celtics. Rondo wasen't considered a top prospect coming out of college, so his improvement in his game is surprising to many.

Rondo is completely different from the top-tier points in the NBA such as Steve Nash, CP3 and Deron Williams, his effect on the game is more outreaching. All the point guards I just mentioned have an effect on the game by scoring, Rondo does so much more than that and can change the game in many ways. Rondo can change a game with his scoring(his aggressiveness and ability to get points in the paint), his passing(Rondo has amazing court vision and creativity, almost on par with Steve Nash), his defense on and off the ball(reading passing lanes and getting steals) and his rebounding(Rondo is the best rebounding point guard in the league at 6'1, he has a nose for the ball and often rebounds well in traffic with bigs in the paint). Rondo has a great balance in his game when it comes to distributing and looking for his own shot, I remember a game last season against the Bulls where Rondo only had 2 points but he had 15 assists, other guards like CP3, Nash, and Deron Williams have to score anywhere from 17-22 on a nightly basis for their teams to win. Rondo is a special young point guard that will continue to grow and lead, he's one of the league's best and most underrated.
