10 Best Stars To Join Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire in New York
This is serious business, people.
I know this because I was threatened when I said I was putting Isiah Thomas on this list.
It looks like Anthony might not sign the Denver extension so we are going to build a winner in the "Mecca of Basketball".
(Is that still NYC, by the way?)
The first step is already in place: Amar'e Stoudemire is signed, sealed and delivered.
They have a pretty good coach in Mike D'Antoni, so now all they are missing are the rest of the pieces.
Some of the players have already been mentioned, so let's build a Knicks team to rival the one in South Beach.
Carmelo's counting on us.
10. Al Horford
1 of 10
He is a restricted free agent and the Hawks won't have enough money to sign him.
Since Joe Johnson wore a his ski mask and didn't leave any fingerprints, there is no way to recover all that stolen money.
Horford plays better when surrounded by talent, (remember his Gator years?).
Al at the 5, "STAT" at the 4 and the 'Melo man at the 3. Best front line in the east, possibly in the NBA.
Let's keep this going.
9. Andrei Kirilenko
2 of 10
The man formerly known as "AK-47" (stay away from guns, kids) will be a unrestricted free agent next year, unless the Jazz ink him to a contract.
You get the feeling he never really liked Jazz head man Jerry Sloan, so this might be his chance to flee to the big city.
And with his wife giving him that yearly pass to find some strange, (I never lie to you, look it up), what better place to pull off a one night stand than NYC?
8. Glenn Davis
3 of 10
Big Baby will probably never be the starting power forward for the C's, so maybe he can get more minutes with a younger team.
The New York press would love to have him. And maybe he can bring Donkey with him!
What?
Why wouldn't Nate Robinson do well with the Knicks?
7. Jamal Crawford
4 of 10
He played well in New York, but he didn't have the right coaching. As an unrestricted free agent, and this time playing in D'Antoni's system (he was traded months after D'Antoni got there) maybe he would excel.
He has certainly played well for Atlanta.
6. Mo Williams
5 of 10
You decide: is Mo better at the point guard spot than Raymond Felton?
I really don't know, but at least you'll get a decent competition for the starting nod.
And with 'Melo and Stoudemire there, you won't need a scoring pg, just a passing one who can hit the occasional clutch shot.
Honestly, neither one excites me.
And I am easily excitable.
TMI?
5. JR Smith
6 of 10
Maybe he and Carmelo have grown attached to each other.
And the the Knicks free-wheeling system fits him perfectly.
With only Kelenna Azubuike and Bill Walker to beat out, Smith would be the starter.
It would be tough to say that he wouldn't be an upgrade from what they have right now.
4. Nenad Kristic
7 of 10
Serge Ibaka is going to need playing time, so you might be able to get him.
Though the guy looks old, Kristic is only twenty-seven. And being that he is a legit 7-footer, you could plug him if you don't get Horford to play center for you.
In fact, you have a better chance of getting him than you do Big Al, because he is unrestricted (hence, the higher ranking).
The old saying goes: you can't teach height.
And the other saying is you can't make Amar'e play center, so you better get someone in there.
3. Tim Duncan
8 of 10
I know, I know, ridiculous.
So was LeBron leaving Cleveland on national TV.
Maybe Tim is tired of getting beat up in the west.
Maybe he knows his team won't get past Dallas, OKC, Utah and absolutely not the Lakers anymore.
Maybe he wants to end his career chasing one last ring, like Shaq.
Didn't Olajuwon, Ewing and Jordan end up playing elsewhere to end their careers?
He is an unrestricted free agent if he wants to be.
Probably won't happen, but what if he gets talked into it by...
2. Tony Parker
9 of 10
His wife, Eva Longoria, says he wants to play in NYC.
And Parker knows that there is another A-list point guard trying to figure out a way to get there.
What if he talks Timmy into also opting out and playing center so Amare can move to power forward, 'Melo at the small forward, JR Smith at the shooting guard and he brings the ball up?
That lineup could win, right?
1. Chris Paul
10 of 10
He has toasted to him, Amar'e and 'Melo playing together at Anthony's wedding.
He has spoken to LeBron about it, (allegedly).
And he wants to be back in the spotlight again after a down year.
If he can force New Orleans into the trade, why wouldn't he?
