LeBron's Legacy: Is His Name Tarnished Forever?
The smoke from the Summer of LeBron has cleared, after an one hour T.V. special and a veil of secrecy, LeBron has made his decision…much to the dismay of the Cleveland fans whose “Chosen One” has defected to South Beach and to the delight of the people of Miami who have a shot at 2006 Championship glory again.
But this has raised questions…How good is LeBron if he needs two superstars to win a championship? How can he be compared to Greatest of All-Time Michael Jordan now?
I still say that LeBron is still damn good. James has always stressed that his game is about the team effort and not all about him, this Miami team shows how committed James is to winning a championship and winning for his team.
The Heat has signed many more men who have failed to get some gold around the fingers including veterans like Juwan Howard and down on their luck former marquee players like Mike Miller. All these men have taken pay cuts to form one of the greatest teams in all of NBA history, which is bent on winning a championship for its players, some of which this is the very last chance to. In fact I believe this team is reminiscent of the Showtime Lakers which consisted of superstars like; Magic Johnson, James Worthy and the incomparable Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
And this has led me to the question, is LeBron like Mike?
Unfortunately no, I think that comparison belongs to Kobe and that LeBron is like Magic. Think about it. The two are two bigger men that run the court like a guard and have great vision, both are charismatic and funny and both are leaders of star-studded team that if ran well, can lead to a fist-full of gold.
So LeBron is no longer the Chosen-One, the King or even the G.O.A.T. but I think he is Magic 2.0 who will go on to win a bunch of rings unless the “Black Mamba” or MJ 2.0 can stop him.
