New York Yankees Notes: Recap, Aceves, A-Rod, Haren

Bronx Baseball DailyJul 25, 2010

We’ll have to wait another day for Alex Rodriguez‘s 600th home run as he went homerless against the Royals when the Yankees beat them 12-6 in a wet one this afternoon.

Here are some notes:

Phil Hughes 's ERA went above 4.00 for the first time this year, but he won anyways and is now 12-3.

Joba Chamberlain surrendered a two-run home run. Alex Rodriguez was the offensive star of the game despite not homering. He left the game early , though, after getting beaned on the forearm. He’s OK and won’t even need x-rays.

Alfredo Aceves
will join the team on the road and throw some bullpen sessions. If those go well he’ll throw full mound sessions before going on a rehab assignment with a minor league team.

Dan Haren
was traded to the Angels. Apparently the Yankees were never even seriously involved. It sounds like the Yankees were a lot more serious and closer to a deal for Cliff Lee than they ever were for Haren.

Reactions to the trade are that Arizona got taken and that it seems like this was almost a straight salary dump.

Two things to take from this Haren trade to the Angels: 1. Teams seem to ask the Yankees for more in trades than they do other teams, and 2. Writers seemingly include the Yankees in trade rumors to drive interest to their articles.
