Duke-UNC Rivalry Renewed: Kyrie Irving, Harrison Barnes Will Ignite Fire

Curtis ClontzJul 20, 2010

The Duke versus UNC rivalry is arguably the best of any sport.  It is hard to refute the undeniable evidence. Think about the Chris Duhon layup, the Gerald Henderson elbow, Capel's 40 footer, and the bi-annual excitement as these two face off on the basketball court.

Next season Kyrie Irving will attempt to be Jay Williams version 2.0. He has been called "Next year's John Wall"— and is one of the two players who will battle for ACC Freshman of the year.

The other will be suiting up for the bad guy. Irving's old school friend and future rival Harrison Barnes will do his best to keep a smile off of Irving's face.

It is unsure who is the better of the two players. They are both great players and a valuable addition to each team. One intangible that can't be measured... they just get it!

This video is a bit old, and had it been recorded a week later Kyrie would have had more to back himself up. Enjoy as the future players do a bit of trash talking!

I attempted to embed it into this article but it would not work. Here is the actual link to the video.

This rivalry is the best thing in all of sports. Inside the Triangle people bleed blue.  Remember the old Wojo commercial where he actually bled Duke Blue. Fans actually feel that way.

The rivalry is incredible! There is nothing else like it in sports, and the addition of Barnes and Irving is only going to add fuel to the fire!
