Duke Hoops in the NBA: Best School, Best Coach, Best Players…

I heard Houston legend Clyde Drexler make an unintelligent comment the other day during a Houston Rockets NBA game, and I canโ€™t help but wonder what the Glide has been smoking.

According to Drexler, Duke basketball players are overrated and always have been. Are you serious, Clyde?

After a quick Google search, I found out there were 14 Duke players on opening day rosters to begin this season.

In addition, off the top of my head, I want to say that at least half of those 14 are starters and Iโ€™d venture to say that nearly 20 percent of those former Dukies average double-digits or higher per game.

Regardless, Clyde โ€œthe Glideโ€ Drexlerโ€™s off-the-wall comment during Saturday eveningโ€™s Rockets broadcast was beyond sad commentary.

When I first became truly addicted to ESPN and SportsCenter in the mid to late 90โ€™s, I recall there being a radical stereotype against coach Mike Krzyzewski and his Duke Blue Devils.

However, I thought those days were behind us and I also though Coach Kโ€™s Dukies had done more than their share to prove to doubters that they are absolutely NBA-caliber talent players.

Think before you say things, Clyde. Duke Universityโ€™s menโ€™s basketball team has the best coach and the best teammates in the entire nation.
