AP College Basketball Poll 2020: Complete Week 4 Rankings Released

Rob GoldbergDec 14, 2020

Even with limited schedules early in the season, several top teams continue to prove themselves on the court to help shape the latest Associated Press poll.

Gonzaga didn't play any games this week due to an outbreak of COVID-19, something that led to the cancellation of several key contests this week. There were still positive moments, including the dominance of Iowa over three wins.

Kansas also played well with two victories, including one over Creighton.

Duke notably fell from No. 10 to No. 21 in the latest rankings after suffering an 83-68 loss to Illinois in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge.

It was the second straight home loss for the Blue Devils, who followed it up by canceling their remaining non-conference schedule.

Meanwhile, Illinois couldn't keep its momentum as it suffered a loss later in the week to Missouri. Ayo Dosunmu scored 36 points but missed the potential game-tying three in the final seconds in the 81-78 upset.

The Illini began last week at No. 6 and now sit at No. 13.

Iowa stayed at No. 3 in the poll, but the team quieted any doubters about the high ranking with some impressive performances over the past week.

The Hawkeyes kicked things off with a 93-80 win over North Carolina despite a poor shooting day from Luka Garza.

The All-American got back on track for wins over Iowa State and Northern Illinois, including a huge second half against the Cyclones:

Iowa has topped 90 points in all six games this year and is unlikely to slow down at any point this season.

Kansas also solidified its position near the top of the polls with a 73-72 win over Creighton that looked like a Final Four game:

The Blue Jays suffered their first loss of the season, dropping to No. 9.

Florida State made a big move from No. 20 to No. 15 after beating both Florida and Indiana, the latter coming in dramatic fashion:

Though the Seminoles had played just one game prior to this week, the victories over quality opponents showed they are legitimate.

Cancellations remain a concern going into next week, although the start of conference play could create several exciting matchups. Fans could also look forward to Saturday's scheduled battle between No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 3 Iowa.
