Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
And so the Williams saga continues.
Williams held out during the 2019 season after a tumultuous offseason that included reports he wanted a reworked contract and that Washington had failed to properly address what turned out to be a cancerous growth on his head.
It appeared he might return to Washington during the regular season after the trade deadline came and passed without a deal materializing, as he showed up to the team's facility Oct. 29. He failed his physical, however, saying he had discomfort when he put on a helmet. He did not play a single game, and Washington put him on the non-football injury list.
And so Washington headed into the offseason with a major question mark. It gave Williams permission to find a trade, though nothing came to pass. And with the first two rounds in the draft completed, it's hard to imagine the team will get equal value back in a trade for the star left tackle unless it receives a player in the deal.
That's a possibility. Players on the trade block include a pair of Jacksonville Jaguars (running back Leonard Fournette and defensive end Yannick Ngakoue). Perhaps a deal could materialize between those teams.
If not, Williams' options may be down to playing for Washington, holding out a second straight year or retiring.
