Redskins Make Trey Quinn Last 2018 NFL Draft Pick; Twitter Hails Mr. Irrelevant
SMU wide receiver Trey Quinn is this year's Mr. Irrelevant after being selected Saturday by the Washington Redskins with the 256th and final pick of the 2018 NFL draft at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Quinn started his college career at LSU before transferring to the Mustangs in 2016. He led the country with 114 catches last season to go along with 1,236 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Here's a look at some of the reaction to the pick on social media:
Quinn will be honored during June's Irrelevant Week in Newport Beach, California. The annual tradition incorporates a celebration of the draft's final pick with charity work, and he'll have an opportunity to play a key role in the planning process.
"While we have some of the annual events already in place, we contact Mr. Irrelevant from the floor of the draft immediately after his name has been announced," Irrelevant Week CEO Melanie Fitch said. "We ask him what are his likes and wishes, and then we personalize the events around his preferences."
After that, it's on to training camp and the preseason, where he'll likely be forced to battle for a roster spot ahead of his rookie campaign.
