2018 NFL Draft: Complete 1st-Round Order, Odds, Analysis of Top Prospects

Analysis and Predictions for Top No. 1 Candidates
Sam Darnold and Josh Allen
Darnold and Allen go hand in hand based on Chris Mortensen of ESPN's report on NFL Live (h/t Bleacher Report's Marcus Mosher) that the Cleveland Browns are down to picking between the two signal-callers with the first pick of the NFL draft.
Peter King of Sports Illustrated added some commentary to the debate, quoting a friend of Browns general manager John Dorsey who believes that Cleveland will look to take Allen at No. 1 and Penn State running back Saquon Barkley at No. 4.
Allen has an incredible arm, as he proved this season and during the NFL Scouting Combine. However, he had accuracy issues in college, completing just 56.2 percent of his passes at Wyoming.
Darnold had a phenomenal sophomore season, completing 67.2 percent of his passes and throwing for 31 touchdowns, but his numbers took a dip in 2017, as his completion rate dropped to 63.1 and his interception total went from nine to 13.
Still, Darnold has a ton of potential and could certainly be a long-term answer for a team at quarterback.
The guess here is that Allen goes first to the Browns and Darnold slots in at second to the New York Giants.
Josh Rosen
If Darnold and Allen go first and second, then Rosen is a great candidate to slot in at third for the New York Jets, who moved up from No. 6 to No. 3. It's hard to see the Jets going anywhere but quarterback with that choice, especially considering the amount of turnover at that position for the past decade or so.
Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay of ESPN released mock drafts on Wednesday, and both were in agreement in aligning the former UCLA Bruin with the Jets.
McShay has noted that Rosen is the most "polished" passer in this year's draft on the Rich Eisen Show, which makes him a good fit for a Jets team looking for a long-term solution at the position (right now, Josh McCown is the presumed 2018 starter, and he is on a one-year contract).
It may also help that Rosen played in Los Angeles for three years, which could help him better acclimate to the bright spotlight in New York City.
Saquon Barkley and Bradley Chubb
In a draft with many questions, one thing is clear: Many folks believe that Penn State running back Saquon Barkley, North Carolina defensive end Bradley Chubb and Notre Dame offensive guard Quenton Nelson are the top three prospects outside the quarterback position.
Notably, Sports Illustrated ranked those three in the top four overall, and Matt Miller of Bleacher Report has them all in his top three.
It's hard to see a team take an offensive guard in the top four of the draft (though it wouldn't be shocking to watch Nelson go No. 5 to the Denver Broncos), but Barkley and Chubb could easily go top four and may even be in play at No. 2 for the Giants.
Barkley is a phenomenal athlete who dominated the college ranks for three years, scoring 53 touchdowns and averaging no fewer than 5.5 yards per carry in any of his campaigns.
Miller said the following about him in September:
He isn't the only one to make that comparison, as Super Bowl winner and former Detroit Lions general manager Matt Millen said the same thing, per Mark Wogenrich of The Morning Call.
Barkley seems like a good fit for the Browns at No. 4 (even with former San Francisco 49er Carlos Hyde now in the mix), but Chubb could also be in play for Cleveland.
The former NC State star accrued 20 sacks in his final two years in school and has drawn rave reviews from many people, including Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, who said that Chubb "should be an early pick, early starter and multi-time Pro Bowler."
The Browns could pair Chubb with the first overall pick of the 2017 NFL draft (edge rusher Myles Garrett). Together, Chubb and Garrett could form a devastating one-two pass rush that could dominate for years.
Ultimately, it's difficult seeing Bradley or Chubb fall past No. 6 to the Indianapolis Colts, especially if the Denver Broncos go quarterback at No. 5.
