Report: Former NFL Head Coach John Fox to Join ESPN as Studio Analyst

Scott PolacekMar 20, 2018

Former Denver Broncos, Carolina Panthers and Chicago Bears head coach John Fox will reportedly grace the screens of football fans during the 2018 season even though he won't be on the sidelines.

On Tuesday, Richard Deitsch of The Athletic cited sources who said ESPN has hired Fox to be an NFL studio analyst.

Deitsch noted ESPN could have multiple studio positions to fill if some of its talent heads to Monday Night Football in addition to Herm Edwards' decision to accept the head coaching job at Arizona State.

"His sense of humor could translate well to a studio analyst position with reps and coaching from producers," Deitsch wrote of Fox.

Fox, 63, wasted little time establishing himself as a successful coach by leading the Panthers to the Super Bowl during his second season in 2003.

He also led the Broncos to the Super Bowl during the 2013 campaign, but 10 of his 16 seasons as a head coach resulted in a record of 8-8 or worse. That included each of his three seasons with the Bears, which led to his firing following a 5-11 mark in 2017.

Fox sports a 133-123 record overall, a mark that is significantly bolstered by his 46-18 record with the Broncos. He lost both of his Super Bowl appearances.
