TV Graphic Places Thaddeus Young Alongside All-Time NBA Legends
Numbers never lie, but anyone can cherry-pick them to support a misleading narrative.
Fox Sports' production crew found a way to include Thaddeus Young in the same prestigious company as Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Per the Indiana Pacers broadcast's eye-opening graphic, those are the only five players in NBA history to average 13.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals in at least 800 games while shooting 49.0 percent from the field and 30.0 percent from three.
Whoever made this discovery carefully picked those parameters for Young's benefit. After he played his 800th career game Wednesday night, the 29-year-old forward claimed those exact averages in points, rebounds and steals. He's also shooting 49.9 percent from the floor and 33.1 percent from downtown.

Young, of course, is not of the ilk of four of the greatest basketball players ever. That's hopefully not the point of the illustration.
It's simply a fun exercise in using arbitrary endpoints to highlight an unheralded contributor.
