2018 Big Ten Tournament Odds: Michigan State Leads Purdue on Betting Lines

OddsShark.comFeb 26, 2018

The second-ranked Michigan State Spartans (28-3) are riding a 12-game winning streak into this week's Big Ten Tournament, as they will play on Friday versus the survivor of Thursday's matchup between the eighth-seeded Maryland Terrapins (19-12) and ninth-seeded Wisconsin Badgers (14-17).

The Spartans are +250 favorites on the 2018 Big Ten tournament odds (bet $100 to win $250) at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark to take home their fourth conference tourney title in seven seasons after winning the previous three in even-numbered years.

Michigan State, also the +550 favorite on the odds to win the NCAA tournament, has been the subject of some controversy lately following Yahoo Sports' release of federal documents that questioned whether star Miles Bridges (16.8 points per game) has received improper benefits. However, MSU cleared Bridges to play in the school's regular-season finale Sunday, and he scored 10 points on 3-of-15 shooting in a 68-63 win at Wisconsin that clinched the regular-season championship.

The second-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes (24-7) won their last two games of the regular season after losing two in a row, and they are the +600 third choice to win the Big Ten tourney behind the Spartans and third-seeded Purdue Boilermakers (26-5).

The Boilermakers are listed as the +275 second choice and looked like they would win the conference's regular-season title before suffering through a three-game skid that started with a home loss to the Buckeyes on February 7. Purdue proceeded to lose on the road at Michigan State and Wisconsin before winning its last three games. The Boilermakers could earn a rematch with Ohio State if both teams win on Friday.

The fifth-seeded Michigan Wolverines (24-7) are the defending Big Ten tournament champions and the +700 fourth choice to repeat this year. The Wolverines won the tournament last season as the No. 8 seed behind MVP Derrick Walton, who is now playing for the NBA's Miami Heat.

Michigan has won five games in a row and ended up tied with the fourth-seeded Nebraska Cornhuskers at 13-5 in Big Ten play. The Cornhuskers also come in hot after winning 10 of their last 12 games, and they are +1000 to win the conference tourney along with the seventh-seeded Penn State Nittany Lions (19-12).
