Matt Barnes Criticizes Clippers, Doc Rivers After Blake Griffin Trade
Former Los Angeles Clippers forward Matt Barnes clearly still isn't a fan of head coach Doc Rivers.
On Monday, the Clippers generated headlines when the club traded star forward Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic, a protected 2018 first-round pick and a 2019 second-round pick, as reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Barnes reacted to the trade via Instagram, where he posted a picture of Griffin and a caption that included the lines, "So you trade this guy after paying him this much money...everyone who's played there knows DOC IS THE PROBLEM!!!"
This isn't a first for Barnes. After the Clippers traded him to the Charlotte Hornets in June 2015, he told Shaun Powell of NBA.com he and Rivers "never saw eye to eye," and that Rivers never wanted him.
Charlotte traded Barnes to the Memphis Grizzlies later that June.
Earlier this month, Barnes criticized Los Angeles guard and former teammate Austin Rivers, Doc's son, during an appearance on Mad Dog Sports Radio.
"Austin kinda rubs people the wrong way," Barnes explained. "He talks a lot of trash and doesn't really back it up. I think people are probably tired of that."
Some rivalries are meant to last forever.
