The sixth-ranked West Virginia Mountaineers (16-3) will go for consecutive wins following a two-game losing streak Monday when they visit the 24th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs (14-5) as small road favorites.

Why the Mountaineers can cover the spread

West Virginia has still gone 5-2 straight up and against the spread at online betting sites in its last seven games despite those two recent losses. The Mountaineers got a game-high 22 points from senior guard Jevon Carter in the rout of the Longhorns, who failed to see any of their players score in double figures.

Three of TCU's last six games have gone to overtime, with two of them resulting in losses, so at least the team has been competitive during this stretch despite the struggles.

The Horned Frogs are coming off a 73-68 road loss to the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday, and they were covering as 2.5-point underdogs with six seconds remaining before allowing three straight points on free throws.
