New Jersey Devils' Brian Boyle Scores 1st Goal Following Cancer Diagnosis

Zac WassinkNov 9, 2017

Earlier this month, New Jersey Devils center Brian Boyle returned to the ice after being diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia in September.

Boyle notched quite the memorable tally Thursday evening.

Roughly 5:30 into the first period of the contest with the Edmonton Oilers at Prudential Center, the 32-year-old struck a rebound past Edmonton goaltender Cam Talbot for the game's opening score. It's also Boyle's first goal since the diagnosis.
