Report: Indictments Expected for 10 People Involved in NCAA Basketball Scandal

Adam WellsNov 3, 2017

All 10 people who were charged in the NCAA's fraud and corruption case will reportedly be indicted next week.

Per Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports, a New York federal grand jury will hand down the indictments to everyone who was initially charged by federal prosecutors in September.

"The grand jury action would officially charge the men with a slew of offenses stemming from a three-year FBI-led investigation into how top basketball talent is funneled through the NCAA by shoe companies, sports agents, financial planners, AAU coaches and assistant coaches," Wetzel wrote.

Federal prosecutors in New York announced charges against 10 different people as part of a three-year FBI probe into bribery involving agents, financial advisers and apparel companies.

Assistant coaches Chuck Person (Auburn), Lamont Evans (Oklahoma State), Emanuel Richardson (Arizona) and Tony Bland (USC) were among those charged in the case. Evans was fired by Oklahoma State. Richardson was suspended and relieved of his duties at Arizona. Person was suspended by Auburn.

Per ESPN's Mark Schlabach, Person, Evans, Richardson and Bland could each face up to 80 years in prison if convicted.

The other people expected to be indicted include Adidas executives James Gatto and Merl Code, former NBA agent Christian Dawkins, financial adviser Munish Sood, AAU coach Jonathan Brad Augustine and former NBA referee Rashan Michel.

With the indictments coming down, Wetzel noted the attorneys for all of the people involved "will now be able to begin the discovery process and properly assess what evidence the federal government has on their clients."
