MLB Trade Rumors: Updated 2017 Deadline Reports and Analysis
The MLB non-waiver trade deadline on Monday at 4 p.m. ET is around the corner, and moves continue to be made nearly every day.
The Tampa Bay Rays added left-handed reliever Dan Jennings from the Chicago White Sox on Thursday morning, per Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.ย Philadelphia Phillies reliever Pat Neshek is now with the Colorado Rockies, who are looking to make other transactions (see below).
Here's a look at the latest talk surrounding an ace pitcher, a veteran catcher and a versatile infielder.ย

Ranking Every Team's Farm System ๐
Despite the worst start of his MLB career on Wednesday night (10 earned runs in 3.2 innings in a 22-10 loss against the Miami Marlins), the Texas Rangers' No. 1 pitcher is still a hot name on the trade market.
Although that performance is an eyesore on his resume, Darvish has pitched some gems this year too, most notably hurling seven shutout innings and striking out 10 against the New York Yankees in the Bronx.ย
Per Buster Olney of ESPN, some teams around the league think Darvish is headed out of town:
Darvish would be a vital asset to any team's rotation. He's made the AL All-Star team four times and has a 3.42 career ERA. On any given night, he can shut a team down for seven or eight innings and keep the Rangers in the game even if their bats are cold.
The issue is whether teams are willing to meet the Rangers' asking price for Darvish, which will undoubtedly be high. Also, one has to wonder whether Darvish's recent outing will make a couple teams think twice.
That being said, Darvish is a free agent after this year, so if the Rangers are concerned that he won't re-sign with the team, then they might look to trade him for less than their asking price.
It will be very interesting to see how the Darvish talk develops as the deadline nears.
Jonathan Lucroy
The former Milwaukee Brewers catcher was a hot name during last year's trade deadline and eventually found his way to Texas en route to its AL West win and postseason berth.
However, the Rangers have struggled in 2017, and through games played on Wednesday, they are 4.5 games back of the second wild-card spot, currently held by the streaking Kansas City Royals.
Therefore, Lucroy may be on the move yet again if the Rangers decide to trade some veterans and look to the future.
According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Colorado Rockies are looking for a veteran catcher, and Lucroy is the target.
Lucroy is having a rough year at the plate, hitting just .245 with four home runs. However, the Rockies catchers aren't doing much better, as Tony Wolters (.255 batting average) and Ryan Hanigan (.250) have combined for just two dingers.
Lucroy is just one year removed from a 24-homer season in 2016, though, and he's earned an .837 OPS or better in three of his last five full years.
He's only 31 years old and can conceivably turn it around, so this would be a good move for the Rockies (as long as the price is right) as they make a postseason charge.
Yangervis Solarteย
The San Diego Padres third baseman has played in just 71 games this year and is still on the disabled list as he recovers from a left oblique strain that has kept him out of action for five weeks.
However, Solarte is close to returning, and teams may be interested in picking him up before the deadline, per Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports:
Although Solarte has missed a good chunk of the season, he's still done well at the plate, smacking 10 home runs to go along with 40 RBI in those 71 games. Solarte doesn't strike out that much either, and he has walked 28 times while fanning 33 times this year.
Solarte has played mostly third base since joining MLB in 2014 as a member of the New York Yankees, but he's moonlit at second base and first base.
If he doesn't find a starting role as a third baseman with a team making a playoff push, he could be a great asset off the bench as a utility infielder.
