Wimbledon Tennis 2017 Men's Final: Early Predictions for Roger Federer at US Open
Roger Federer made short work of Marin Cilic as he won Wimbledon 2017, claiming the title at the All England Club on Sunday.
It is the superstar's eighth championship in London, breaking the record number of wins in the men's final at the lawn-tennis Grand Slam.
Cilic could not reproduce the form which saw him streak to the final, and Federer was victorious 6-3, 6-1, 6-4.
The veteran will now attempt to win his third Grand Slam of the year as he competes at the U.S. Open after capturing Wimbledon and the Australian Open.
Predictions

Federer's rise back to the top of tennis has shocked many, given his ageing years and recent injury record.
The superstar took six months off to rest and recuperate before Wimbledon, and his game has been better than ever.
Federer has always been a tactical genius, but in his time out he has trained and enhanced his overall weaponry.
His groundstroke is at its very best, and his backhand has improved—a huge achievement for a player of 35.

The lack of pace and bounce on grass has previously played into Federer's hands, but the courts in London have sped up significantly in the past few years.
Federer has adapted to these changes, not allowing the big hitters on the tour to prevail with additional power.
The Swiss player did not need to be at his best against Cilic, but he defused the Croatian's power tactics with ease.
According to Wimbledon.com, Federer won 81 per cent on his first serve against Cilic, proving his current economy is ruthless.
He will need to repeat this on the hard courts of Flushing Meadows in New York when the tournament begins on August 28.
Federer celebrated his 19th Grand Slam victory:
Many top stars carried injuries into Wimbledon, and the problems ended the charges of Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic.
It is unknown if the pair will be ready for the United States competition, but their talents are more suited to the conditions and surface than Federer's.
However, Federer is a five-time winner at the U.S. Open, and success is a meal he is used to eating.
His current form matches when he was world No. 1, and if the field of contenders is reduced in New York, he will be many pundits' favourite.

French Open winner Rafael Nadal is likely to rekindle his old rivalry with Federer during the U.S. Open, and it was a surprise to see him crash out of Wimbledon considering his excellent form.
Nadal won the title in America in 2010 and 2013, and—much like Federer—he has rebuilt himself back into a top-class force.
The Spanish star's best surface is clay, but in terms of quality, he will contest with Federer for the final Grand Slam of the year.
If Murray and Djokovic miss the trip to the United States, the winner will come from one of the two veterans.
Prediction: Federer to win the U.S. Open
