Federer put on another clinic on Friday, cruising to the final with a routine win over Berdych. Unibet's Aaron Cox couldn't believe what he saw from the 35-year-old:

Like Venus Williams, who qualified for her first women's final at the tournament in nine years, Federer seems to have reinvented himself this season. He has already won the Australian Open, and while he skipped the clay season, he hasn't really shown any signs of major weakness all year long.

Injuries have been a concern the last few years―a logical consequence of ageing―but the veteran has picked his tournaments perfectly. He has used a similar approach on the court, attacking in spurts and generally out-thinking his opponents.

Federer doesn't have to overpower opponents in rallies. He's much more efficient when he forces them into mistakes, relies on his creativity and uses his great passing shots to keep opposing players from being too aggressive.

Per George Bellshaw of Metro, he's not overlooking his final opponent:

Cilic has beaten Federer just once in seven tries and lost to the Swiss star at Wimbledon last year, in five sets. The Croatian gave Federer all he could handle in that match, and should do so again on Sunday.

He's something of a career underachiever, even if he has won a Grand Slam already―the 2014 U.S. Open. Blessed with a great serve, tremendous power and a clean ground game from the baseline, the 28-year-old had the potential to join the ranks of elite players years ago, but he has remained a fringe contender.

At his best, he's a serious threat for everyone, and he's playing some amazing tennis. He knows he's in the form of his life, per Wimbledon's official Twitter account:

Like all of Federer's previous opponents, he'll have to play mistake-free tennis to have any chance of stopping the veteran. If he does, his tremendous serve could be the weapon that finally breaks Federer's quest for an eighth Wimbledon title.
