Wimbledon 2017 Women's Semi-Finals: TV Schedule, Start Time, Live-Stream Info
Johanna Konta will meet Venus Williams in the semi-finals of 2017 Wimbledon on Thursday, after the pair scored notable wins in the last eight. Williams beat French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko at the All-England Club on Wednesday, the same day British No. 1 Konta overcame Simona Halep in London.
Elsewhere, Garbine Muguruza will face Magdalena Rybarikova on Thursday in the other semi-final in the women's bracket.
Before a preview, here are the schedule and viewing details for both matches:
Date: Thursday, July 13
Time: From 1 p.m. BST/8 a.m. ET.
TV Info: BBC One, ESPN.
Live Stream: BBC Sport Tennis (web updates), WatchESPN.
Konta not only derailed Halep's bid to earn top spot in the WTA rankings. She also became the first British female to reach the semi-final stage since 1978, per Kevin Mitchell of the Guardian.
The way she saw off Halep after dropping the first set earned Konta many admirers, in particular, Jamie Murray, who took to Twitter to declare the 26-year-old a worthy winner:
Murray wasn't the only one impressed by what Konta achieved. BBC Sport's Piers Newbery also endorsed the rapid strides she has been making in recent years:
For how well she played, Konta's win over Halep wasn't without controversy. An impromptu cheer on match point appeared to distract Halep, something that left WTA Insider's Courtney Nguyen unimpressed:
Yet despite a contentious ending, Konta will enter the semi-final in peak form. She can also take confidence from beating Williams earlier this year in the semi-final of the 2017 Miami Open.
Still, this is Williams at home at Wimbledon. The 37-year-old will be playing in her 10th semi-final after beating Ostapenko, per Daniel Schofield and Vicki Hodges of the Daily Telegraph.
It's a different story for Rybarikova, who saw off Coco Vandeweghe in fine style on Wednesday, winning in straight sets, per the tournament's official website.
In the process, Rybarikova continued the run of first-time semi-finalists to emerge from the women's bracket at Wimbledon in recent years, per Ben Rothenberg of the New York Times:
Rybarikova's progress to the last four is in stark contrast to her previous showings in London, per the tournament's official Twitter account:
While the Slovakian's performances have been exceptional, Muguruza may prove too tough an opponent in the semi-final. The Spaniard rose to the occasion to beat seventh seed Svetlana Kuznetsova in straight sets on Wednesday.
Muguruza has been proving surprisingly comfortable on grass, per Nick Harris of the Daily Mail, despite her reservations about the surface: "I never feel that comfortable on grass. You know, every time I start the grass season, I'm like, 'How the hell did I reach that [2015] final'?"
Having reached the final in 2015, as well as winning the French Open last year, Muguruza has proven her credentials on the big occasions. She has already seen off Angelique Kerber and Kuznetsova, so should have too much for Rybarikova.
Meanwhile, Williams is playing well enough to bring Konta's inspired journey to an end.
