Wrestling Is Not Dead

Dave AshbourneOct 14, 2009

Hello Bleacher Report! This is my first article and it's going to be about what I love most: WWE.

You look at any wrestling website, where people are free to write as they please, and you'll see hundreds of comments such as, "Cena Sux," "The PG era sux," and "the wrestling industry is dead."

Well, I disagree. Cena may not have the biggest move set; yes, WWE might be more orientated around younger viewers, and professional Wrestling most certainly isn't at it's peak, but does this make it bad?

I believe WWE as a whole is filling close to its maximum potential. Realistically, WWE will never exceed the viewership or excitement it had during the Monday Night Wars and the much missed Attitude Era, but in a time when WWE must adapt to meet a very wide audience, how can people expect WWE to please everyone?

Another thing people are always complaining is having to see the same thing over and over in the WWE, or is it that every time WWE try to do something different, people shoot it down before giving it a chance? I mean, look at the whole Donald Trump scenario. Everyone was shooting Trump down before he even made an appearance! Yet, that episode had the most viewers since the first WWE draft!

Also, every wresting forum is on about the up-and-coming Iron Man Match stating they can't bear to watch Cena wrestle for an hour. How do you know!? Give the man a chance! He is one hell of an entertainer.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is: If you don't like WWE, instead of complaining about it, don't watch it! And also, a 12-year old who cheers Cena is as much of a WWE fan as a 17-year old who doesn't like Cena.

Well, that concludes my first article! Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance :).
