Hornets GM Rich Cho Introduces 2nd-Round Pick Dwayne Bacon as 'Dwyane Wade'
Of all 2017's NBA draft picks, Dwayne Bacon has the easiest last name to remember.
When introducing the 40th pick during Friday's news conference, Charlotte Hornets general manager Rich Cho's greatest challenge was to not drool and say "mmmmm, Bacon" like Homer Simpson.
Cho instead called him "Dwyane Wade."
The future Hall of Famer is a lofty comparison to throw upon the 21-year-old forward, who averaged 17.2 points per game during his sophomore season at Florida State. Despite Bacon's initial priceless reaction, he later framed Cho's error as a Freudian slip.
"I think it's a comparison," Bacon said, per the Charlotte Observer's C Jackson Cowart. "Low key, I think he was thinking of me and Dwyane Wade playing alike."
Perhaps it's merely a testament to Wade's making himself synonymous with the first name. Or maybe Cho was just tired after the draft. Either way, the Hornets will hope Bacon makes a name for himself.
