Roma Transfer News: Jean Michael Seri Offer Reportedly Too Low, Latest Rumours

Gill ClarkJun 20, 2017

Roma have reportedly made a bid of €15 million (£13.1 million) for Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri, but they may have to increase their offer, with the Ligue 1 side believed to want €40 million (£35.1 million).

Per L'Equipe (via Sport Witness), Eusebio Di Francesco's side are leading the race for the highly rated 25-year-old, who played an integral role for Nice last season, as the club finished in an impressive third place.

Seri was the most accurate passer in Ligue 1 last season, per WhoScored.com, which also highlighted his attacking contribution, with only Angel Di Maria having created more clear-cut chances in the French league:

Per Simon Jones at the Daily Mail, Seri's performances have attracted interest from Tottenham, who have reportedly made initial enquiries as to the midfielder's availability.

Ed Aarons at the Guardian has also reported interest from north London rivals Arsenal, after holding talks with the player's agent:

According to Sport, both clubs also face competition from Barcelona although no offer has yet been made.

Barcelona's priority seems to be signing Marco Verratti from Paris Saint-German, per Marca, which could allow Arsenal and Tottenham to rival Roma for Seri's signature.

Seri's excellent passing and playmaking means he could be a perfect replacement for Santi Cazorla at Arsenal, although—unlike Spurs—the Gunners are unable to offer Champions League football.

Roma appear to be in pole position, as they aim to build on last season's second-place finish, with the help of Monchi, who has a superb record in the transfer market from his days at Sevilla.
