Developers behind Madden NFL 18 unveiled a new career mode called Longshot on Saturday.

EA Sports shared a trailer for the mode, which will focus on fictional player Devin Wade:

According to EA Sports' official site, Wade is a former 5-star quarterback who has spent three years away from football. Longshot mode tells the story of his journey to being selected in the NFL draft.

Past iterations of the Madden franchise have featured game modes in which users controlled one player over the duration of his NFL career. However, this is the first time the series has included a narrative story mode.

The addition makes sense, given the popularity of The Journey in FIFA 17. The Journey centered around Alex Hunter and his first year with a Premier League club. EA Sports announced The Journey will pick back up where last year left off in FIFA 18.

Longshot is a great way for Madden NFL 18 to differentiate itself from last year's game, and it will provide fans with a nice change of pace from the typical modes.
