Giannis Antetokounmpo Ties Bucks Franchise Record for Career Triple-Doubles
Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo nabbed his eighth career triple-double Wednesday, joining Kareem Abdul-Jabbar atop the franchise leaderboard, per ESPN Stats & Info.
Giannis barely bested the minimums Monday, collecting 10 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in the tilt, but it was just enough to tie him with Kareem and to boost the Bucks to an 89-79 victory over the Charlotte Hornets.
The Greek Freak also made a notable block in the contest, making up significant ground to spike a layup attempt by the Hornets' Brian Roberts. Known for his unusual athletic ability, he frequently makes plays that few others in the league can match.
Now in his fourth NBA season, Giannis took a huge step forward in 2016-17. Despite averaging the same amount of minutes per contest as last season, he has improved his scoring by six points per contest, added over a rebound per game to his ledger (8.8) and is averaging 5.4 assists.
The 22-year-old's output this season netted him his first career All-Star start, playing alongside the likes of LeBron James and Jimmy Butler in the Eastern Conference's frontcourt. His efforts this season have also pushed Milwaukee into the playoffs for just the fourth time in the last 10 seasons.
The Bucks haven't advanced past the first round of the postseason since falling to the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals in 2000-01. While it's unlikely they will make it that far this season, the club does have pieces to potentially upset its first-round matchup.
