Carlton Bragg Jr. to Transfer from Kansas After Sophomore Season

Timothy RappApr 6, 2017

Kansas sophomore Carlton Bragg Jr. will transfer this offseason, according to Shay Wildeboor of Rivals.com.

"We appreciate Carlton's efforts the last two years at Kansas," Jayhawks head coach Bill Self said. "We certainly respect his decision to pursue other opportunities. We wish him nothing but the very best and hope he is able to reach his dreams and goals."

After starting the first five games of the season, Bragg settled into a role off the bench, averaging 5.2 points and 4.1 rebounds in 13.8 minutes per game. That followed a freshman year that saw Bragg post just 3.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 8.9 minutes per contest.

His limited role with the Jayhawks perhaps prompted Bragg to desire a change in scenery.

"I really enjoyed my time here at Kansas," Bragg noted. "Kansas has the best fans and I do love the program. This past year didn't go as well as I thought it would and it's in my best interest to get a fresh start. I want to thank my teammates, coaches and the fans for all their support these past two years. I will always cheer for the Jayhawks."

With 5-star recruit and power forward Billy Preston joining the Jayhawks in 2017 and freshman center Udoka Azubuike set to return after tearing ligaments in his wrist this season, however, the Jayhawks will still have solid options in the paint next year.
